New Zealand is full of stunning, natural beauty and home to nearly 3,000 glaciers, which are huge tourist destinations. But the glaciers are quickly vanishing due to rising temperatures.
Robin Roberts visited Rotorua on an expedition of a lifetime and shared a first-hand look at the shrinking ice.
First, she suited up to hop in a helicopter for a bird's-eye view of the dangerously thin ice, which scientists call a critical part of the climate crisis.

I’ve been to Rotorua.It’s famous for it’s sulfur stench due to volcanic activity.Smells pretty bad.
Yesterday there was a story about climate guru’s struggle to explain the near constant temps in the artic for the past 70 years. Last month it was a struggle to explain increasing snow and ice pack.
Now everyone has ‘science’ to support diametrically opposed conclusions & predictions. Sweet!

You are supposed to accept on face but it is an outright lie. Some are shrinking, due sublimation and calving, some are growing,etc., but not much has changed in 70 years. Why don’t we make them give their sources instead of allowing them to frame the argument?
I’ve been to Rotorua also but recall the glaciers on the west coast of the South Island, not near Rotorua. Although the north did have an ice-covered volcano peak I could see from the train and might account for the northern glaciers. My trip was almost 30 years ago.

Remember, the glaciers in Glaciers Natural Park were definitely going to disappear by 2020. The Park Service even had posted a sign saying so. They took the sign down a couple years ago, since the glaciers are still there.

Glaciers have been eroding since the last Ice Age 12,000 years ago. And puny man thinks he is causing it, and can stop it.
So what started and stopped the last 4 ice ages?

Currently, we are in a warm interglacial that began about 11,000 years ago. The last period of glaciation, which is often informally called the “Ice Age,” peaked about 20,000 years ago. At that time, the world was on average probably about 10°F (5°C) colder than today, and locally as much as 40°F (22°C) colder.

Gee, I would think that a land with volcanic activity might have some melting ice. I mean, does not the word volcano conjure up thoughts of warm, hot, hotter, molten lava is capable of melting ice?!
There are volcanic mountains in Africa that are snowcapped.
Wait until the next Krakatoa type event.
