America slouches further toward Sodom and Gomorrah

Sodom and Gomorrah were real cities, and real people lived there. These were notoriously sinful cities God warned but eventually destroyed because of their wickedness (Genesis 19:24). These cities, infamous for their debauchery and homosexuality, are mentioned 23 times in Scripture.

When Jesus taught about judgment, He referred to Sodom and Gomorrah (Matthew 10:15). Historians acknowledge them; Muslims and Jews record their existence along with their decadent behavior. Billy Graham told us, "If God doesn't judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."

In World War II, the allies bombed Hamburg, Germany, killing 40,000 with one of the largest fire storms of the war. Name of their operation: "Operation Gomorrah."

Before the annihilation of Sodom and Gomorrah by a rain of fire and brimstone (sulfur), God sent two angelic individuals to advise good people to leave, but, except for one righteous man, Lot, who took his family and departed, masses ignored the coming peril and suffered with their lives. These men were welcomed into Lot's home, but the depravity of the city was manifested when a group of Sodomites descended on the residence, saying they wanted to engage in homosexual activity with the guests. God mercifully spared the righteous ones by striking blind the gay men, enabling Lot's family to evacuate.

Across America what do we now see? "LGBTQ Celebration! Gay Pride! Drag Show! Trans Festival! Same Sex Wedding! Pride Night! Lesbian Filmfest! Gay Parade! Queer Cruise! Campus Pride Week!" The current bombardment often includes public displays of seductive attire…

IMO we’re already there and passing the deviant behavior of what’s recorded in the Bible in the fast lane.

On the day of the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage, I told my wife, “Our country just opened Pandora’s Box.” Without a doubt, that ruling was a major turning point in our country’s basic sense of right and wrong. The highest court in the land said “anything goes” regarding sexuality, and perversion has accelerated rapidly since that ruling - drag shows, LGBTQ rampant in our schools, “Pride” celebrated everywhere you turn, etc. When people turn their backs on God, He then “gives them over to a reprobate mind.”

For any who use "Christian" to identify themselves, here's an excerpt from Romans 1.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Words? Harsh words? Unfair words? False words? Words worthy of being ignored? Perhaps true words, but damn inconvenient?

Then there is the question of verb tense, in Bork's title. Perhaps "Slouched towards Gomorrah" is where the nation finds itself today....

I miss Rush so much, but he predicted this years and years ago. He said once they come for the fast food, fatty foods, like french fries and hamburgers, do you remember that, they will come after everything that is good and decent. And here we are, but I believe with all my heart the Bible says the last generation will not pass away until all these things come to pass. I believe with my heart that we are that generation. The baby boomers are the last remnant of the family of Christ before his appearance. Like I said, before “normal will never return, but Jesus Christ will return.”

My father was an old time family doctor who delivered scores of babies. Dad in his later years often said that God would surely punish this country for allowing abortion. Given the current situation I believe Dad’s prophecy is coming true.

I take issue with the word, “slouching”. We may have been slouching towards Gomorrah in the 80’s, but we are flat out sprinting to overrun Gomorrah now.

I think, when the Church of England not only approves of same sex marriages but begins executing ceremonies... that’s when God is going to show his Mercy, his Grace and His Anger.
