January 31, 2023: Tesla Driver Charged For Series of Road Rage Attacks in Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County DA's office ^ | Jan 31, 2023 | LA County DA Media Relations Division

Posted on 02/01/2023 12:05:50 PM PST by absalom01

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Nathaniel Radimak has been charged with threatening multiple people on Southern California roadways and damaging some of their vehicles.

“The victims in this case were reasonably terrified by what they experienced, but this reign of terror ends today,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Motorists in Los Angeles shouldn’t have to live in fear of being attacked while simply driving on the freeway. Our office will continue to work with our partners in law enforcement to determine if this person has committed similar acts against people in Los Angeles County and elsewhere.”

Radimak (dob 9/30/86) was charged in case BA511358 with four counts each of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and criminal threats and one felony count of vandalism. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of vandalism and one misdemeanor count of elder abuse.

He pleaded not guilty today and is expected to return to court for a preliminary hearing setting in Department 50 on February 14.

On January 11, the defendant is accused of using a pipe and striking someone’s car on the 2 Freeway. Later that day, Radimak allegedly followed a couple from a shopping mall in Pasadena and nearly struck their car with his vehicle. He also allegedly struck their vehicle with a metal pole.

On November 9, 2022, Radimak is accused of threatening to attack a woman at a storage facility in Atwater Village. Later that day, he allegedly got out of his vehicle and threatened another woman on a freeway and broke one of her headlights.

Last June, the defendant also is accused of threatening to assault a 74-year-old woman outside a doctor’s office in Glendale.

Radimak has a pending case where he is accused of allegedly attacking another driver in a road rage incident that occurred in Hollywood in January 2020. When his car was searched, he allegedly had steroids and more than $30,000. He is charged in case BA494303 with one felony count of possession for sale of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of battery.

The District Attorney’s Office filed a request with the court that he be preventatively detained pending the outcome of these matters. Our office believes that he is a flight risk and a danger to the community and base this decision on his lengthy criminal history which spans nearly two decades and crosses multiple states and jurisdictions.

A judge granted the request at the initial hearing today.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles and Pasadena police departments and the California Highway Patrol. If you or someone you know have encountered the defendant and suffered threats or assaultive behavior, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Update following yesterday's arraignment of this nut. He's got a rap sheet as well that the current charges don't address, involving an arrest for possession of Meth for sale and simple battery. A little 'roid rage, a little tweak, just another day in Southern California.

BUT, there's an interesting discussion about some of the victim's self defense rights in a couple of these cases.

Is a metal pipe a deadly weapon? Yes! Would it be lawful to use deadly forced when confronted by an aggressor armed with such a weapon? Yes, yes I think it would be. And finally, what's the ballistic coefficient of a 2015 Ford F150, if that's the only weapon at your disposal?

Witnesses dispute the allegations saying he was asleep in the backseat and it was actually the car that was misbehaving.

What does the make of the car he was driving have anything to do with his crimes?????

Nothing. Absolutely nothing in a legal or evidentiary sense.

So why feature this detail in the headline except to try to connect Musk in some wildly strained way to this nut?

Tesla drivers are not always the brightest bulbs on the tree.

Infuriated by fossil fuel burners, still using internal combustion engines.

That feller seemed a mite perturbed 'bout somethin'. The dang fool said we oughta have an electric gadget car, like we would want to drive only as far as the plug-in cord lets us do. Well, he'll have to find his own way outa that tree. Granny, sometimes you don't know yer own strength. He got me riled.

Up in the Northwest we have a bunch of thugs driving around in outlandishly expensive cars and acting like idiots. I would guess that the majority are in BMWs and Mercedes but these cars are nearly of just as expensive as Teslas. I assume that these characters are involved in some form of criminal activity.

I don't think that the make of the car is all that important, but the fact that we find many irrational idiots driving very expensive cars is an important aspect. Mentioning that the car was a Tesla makes people realize that this idiot can be grouped with the rest just mentioned.

White boy is going down. When it’s whitey, Gascon suddenly gets concerned for the community. The bully white boy deserves it but does Gascon think we’re fools? Get outta here......

Californian here.

This is why I keep pepper spray in the driver’s door of my car for easy access.

ALWAYS lock your car doors and make sure you have an escape route at all times. You are surrounded by a ton of metal in your car. Take advantage of that.

Advice from my husband who taught self defense.

Not sure that's what was behind this, at least initially.

This story gained prominence after a guy's dashcam caught the interaction on the 2 freeway, the vehicle used in the crime was part of the description.  That's not at all unusual.

Now that he's been rolled up, yeah, maybe there's an attempt to tie in the Cathedral's current enemy Musk, but it also serves to explain to people who this character is, and why he's famous.

Ditto for Souther California - where young thugs drive around in late model Mercedes and especially BMWs - the very expensive ones. Lately, it’s Teslas.

They drive very aggressively disregarding traffic laws - run through stop signs, speed everywhere, weave in and out of traffic, etc. We’ve always wondered how so many young people could afford these very expensive cars.

When I saw this case, it was familiar as far as type of individual and type of car driven.

For the most part the cars notorious criminals owned is an unknown. Ok we know Brandon has a Corvette and a few others but that’s about it.
