How could you say DeSantis is to the right of Trump? DeSantis has done some very popular socially conservative things but he is no Conservative, he admires all of the Globalist big business service economy folks & is on record as doing so. A person can be socially conservative and not champion main street. But Main Street vs Wall street is the big picture.

Yet, when fellow Republican Gerald Ford was running against him, and boasting he played football in college, Reagan hilariously said “I played football too. The difference is - I wore a helmet!”
Joking about about a political opponent’s likely brain damage? The Never-Trumpers would have a field day if Trump ever did that.
And by the way, anyone who understood sarcasm knew that Reagan’s so-called “first rule of politics” was said in jest - which is why everyone in the audience or the press core laughed whenever he said it.
Trump went after and had nicknames for the entire field last time and yeah it didn’t work out to bad but that was ‘16... seems a long time ago now...
Maybe this all just a political reality show for Trump and we’re his viewers? He’s always been way more interested in rhetorical bomb throwing than governing and coalition building.

Trump is doing this out of desperation. Attacking DeSantis over vaccines, when Desantis no longer supports them, but Trump does? Obviously that makes no logical sense, so it is evidence of a desperate attack. Same for attacking DeSantis over lockdowns, when Trump is the one who initiated the nationwide lockdowns himself. Same for globalism. Not to mention DeSantis hasn’t even declared yet!
Why is Trump desperate? Money, and polls.
Countless articles out there about how none of the big donors are going to contribute to him again. Most importantly, his biggest donor by far Sheldon Adelson, who died, and his widow is now supporting DeSantis. And DeSantis now leading Trump in many polls, including early states.
Countless articles out there also about how he has alienated Christians, a group that was previously his base. None of the former big name Pastors are supporting him, probably because they know their congregations are angry at Trump for a variety of issues, starting with his celebration of the new gay marriage law at his resort.
Add it up and Trump is not acting logically, he’s acting very emotionally, because he’s getting desperate. But he’s only making things worse by attacking someone who hasn’t even declared yet, especially so hypocritically on those issues.
RUN, RONNIE, RUN!
But Trump is, ok, sure. Has been his whole life you probably think too.
And what are you smoking? President Trump met with every type of American, farmers, soldiers, poor, industrialists, preachers, blacks, ex-cons, kids, vets, too many to mention. He worked to solve problems for Americans of every race, creed and occupation. He was able to work with disparate Nations to forge treaties & promote peace. He cut mountains of red tape and revamped the VA, rebuilt the Armed Forces.
Do you think it’s ok to just make up stuff and that we won’t notice?

Trump moved America toward local rather than Federal control. He played by the rules rather than abusing power. He made America freer, safer & more secure. Whatever jury rigged definition of conservative you have Trump proved by his actions that he could give America back to Americans, generate opportunity to succeed for individuals & strengthen the economy.
That’s my kind of conservative.
I’m all for social conservatism. De Santis has done good things but the real meat is in making America great again. Trump supports faith, justice and opportunity for all Americans. DeSantis supports the goals of global business. I am not about to follow someone who does good things re schools and says he wants to follow in the foot steps of Paul Ryan.
You are so funny. I just grin. Why should the top dog get nervous. DeSantis is no threat except in that he is being used like a tool by the Romney Ryan Haley backers. Those hit articles are so much fodder. People like you recycle them in a vain attempt to give them traction.
Trump changed my perceptions and understanding of politics.
What video is that? I enumerated many of the factors that have gone into my growing distrust of DeSantis. The gestalt is not based on a video but on long standing associations & donors.
It needs to end immediately.
As soon as he posts these things, there’s a huge dustup. “Why is he doing this? Is this going to be a problem in 2024? Is this going to divide the base?” But mostly “Why?”
I think the answer is obvious. Trump wants people thinking about DeSantis, Trump, and 2024 together, and just in general talking and thinking about Trump and 2024. It’s not a bad strategy at a point where no one really cares about elections this far out.
The rumors for the past few months have been that Trump and DeSantis had an agreement in principle for Ron to be his running mate, and I don’t know if this kerfuffle helps or hurts that. But we’re sure talking about it.
Trump’s craftier than most folks give him credit for.

DeSantis hasn’t entered the race and he’ll probably be the last to do so.
Which is basically why I’ll keep my powder dry until next year.
