We have the fanous dead drummers such as Keith Moon and John Bonham.
Baasists are the forgotten ones when it comes to great tunes.
I know another stupid thread.
Well, they got #1 right. Les Claypool and Stanley Clarke could have been higher up the list, but these polls are always popularity contests first and foremost.
Well, he won’t make any “Greatest of All Time” lists, but I always liked the sound of Dee Murray’s Bass with Elton John. It had an agreeable, bouncy “fat” sound.
And of course Freepers must appreciate the Pretenders dominant bass line in “My City Was Gone” a k a Rush Limbaugh’s theme.
Some of my favorites, not on the list:
Tiran Porter - Doobie Brothers
Colin Moulding - XTC
Mike Rutherford - Genesis
How in blazes is Bootsy Collins way down at #18?

Lost me right there.
Never mind no sign of Steve Harris, Geezer Butler or even Peter Cetera.
. . . or even Roger Glover . . .
Glad to see Carol Kaye is in there. Missing some studio players from the Swampers, Funk Bros etc tho. The unique tracks they laid down are in your head.
Absolutely on Cetera, he’s kind of like Phil Collins in that his sappy 80s work tends to overshadow what a great bass player he was on those early Chicago records.
Just got reminded of Dan Hartman too, particularly his work with Edgar Winter. Thanks.
I have been following Ellen Alaverdyan.
She is amazing!
I saw on her facebook page a tv show where her favorites were there and surprised her.
I cannot find the link right now.
This should be fun for later. I actually have heard a fair number of these guys.
A lotta good bass players.
Jack Casady was #1 for centuries, and then a new generation never heard him. So not really the “all time” greatest. More like, ‘since 1990”.
Mark Egan, the original bassist for The Pat Metheny Group.
I hope Mark King of Level 42 made the list. Too lazy to check.
Beato turned my onto this guy.

Verdine White
Louis Johnson
Larry Graham
Peter Cetera
The list is missing a few greats in favor of those no one has heard of.
Larry Graham for sure.
Utterly stupid list. Any list that doesn’t at least have Tim Bogert of Vanilla Fudge/Cactus in the top five is useless.
