A group of California police officers shot and killed a double amputee on Thursday as he tried to run away from them on his stumps after jumping out of his wheelchair.
The three cops from Huntington Park Police Department were filmed firing at least eight shots at Anthony Lowe Jr., a 36-year-old father-of-two.
Lowe Jr. had just stabbed someone unprovoked, according to the police department, and was trying to run away from two officers.
Video of the incident shows him standing in front of two officers next to his wheelchair, which he had leaped from. He turned and tried to hurry away from them, clutching a large butcher's knife in one hand.
A second police car arrived, from which a third cop emerged. First, they Tased him - which was 'ineffective', according to a police press release.
Within 15 seconds of the third officer arriving, they fired multiple shots, shooting Lowe in the upper torso.
Once he was on the ground lying on his stomach, they placed him in handcuffs.
'The suspect was tased at least twice by Huntington Park Officers but the deployment of the taser was ineffective.
'The suspect attempted to throw the butcher knife at the officers again, at which time an officer involved shooting occurred,' the LA County Sheriff's Office release said.

I’m guessing it was ineffective because he was dead.

So, safe to say that they’d shoot your legless dog, in case you thought having a legless dog might make it safe from the police.

So, this choir boy amputee leaves his house to go to a McDonalds and carries a butcher knife with him on his wheelchair. I know the beef at McDonalds can be tough at times, but needing a butcher knife to soften it up is a bit much.
Even so, why couldn’t the cops have used their billy clubs (batons) and his wheel chair to subdue him. Maybe if they had at least 37 more cops to take him down things might have been different.
Cops didn’t use to just gun down everything in front of them that could possibly become a threat.
Cops of the past, even with all of their eternal cop ways, were more manly and took some risks, something we still see in some foreign countries.

On the day of his death, she says he’d told her he was going to McDonald’s.
It’s unclear who he is alleged to have stabbed, or what that person’s condition is now.
Sigh, back in the dark past a friend’s cop husband used the barrel of his S & W Police Special to bring such weird events to a close. As he said ‘Getting pistol whipped definitely will get your attention’. That, I suppose is now brutality.
Well, when your enemy has all the advantages, you gotta do something unexpected.

He didn’t learn the first time that resisting arrest is a bad idea.

All I can say is, I guess this is better than shooting a live one.

There are serious issues with police in this country. They’ve become an occupying army against us all.
He was afraid someone would stick a broom handle in his spokes.

The guy had no legs! How far do you think he would have got before he collapsed? This is not going to be a 100 yard chase, more like less than a city block.
I got that he stabbed someone. However he’s in a wheelchair, has no legs. This guy should be a little more easier to take down if this had been thought out in advance.
For real he can’t get far, it’s not a motorized wheel chair. (and even if it was those don’t go fast) So keep civilians away from him. Tazer did not work? Okay call in SWAT and tear gas his ass. Then the SWAT team moves in their tactical gear and takes him down.
why isn’t Morgana the Police Chief?
Even if Anthony Lowe Jr. had survived, he wouldn’t be able to sue the Huntington Beach PD.
They are up shit creek without a paddle, then.
