It’s always good to start the week off with a little zing, and what better way to do that than by writing a column that contains some heartfelt and valid criticism of former President Donald Trump?
At least my hate mail will be buzzing for a few days.
As I am going to have to do every time I write one of these things in the coming months, I will remind everyone that people are allowed to be supportive of Trump AND critique him from time to time. This is a political movement, not a cult.

It’s a shame that such a disclaimer needs to be printed.
we fight for free speech but we also wrestle with it.
agree with everything the writer says except that the writer doesn’t understand that trump is trying to keep desantis from running for president. what trump is doing is of a piece with his support for McCarthy for speaker and hands off approach to romney’s niece. Trump is playing a republican insider’s game with other republican insiders for control of the republican party.
and fugly neckbeard...
Finding out yesterday from Charlie Kirk that Trump had his team in Ca. at the RNC elections lobbying for Ronna has me EXTREMELY PISSED off at Trump he does NOTHING to help himself, ifwe lose in 2024 he will be at fault for pushing to get Ronna re-elected!! Can’t even explain WHY he does these things I thought he liked winners Ronna is a HUGE LOSER!!
Trump didn’t come out and endorse McDaniel because of the disaster with mccarthy. But everyone knows that McDaniel is his girl.
Totally agree that ronna is a loser. I thought that trump made a bad call on that. the only thing I could conclude was that trump knew that ronna had the votes before the tally came in. that he could not change the outcome. that he did not want to be seen as a loser in the inside game. so he played hands off.
Your point is that Trump loyalty to McDaniel was so strong that he accepted her re appointment in the face of her obvious incompetence?—and therefor her danger to his chances for 2024.
Its obvious to everyone that in 2022 the dems made the most of a weak hand and the pubs made the least of a strong hand. in most instances the pubs learned nothing in 2022.
the fault was plainly on the part of republican leadership.
your point is that Trump does not recognize this?
DeSantis is in bed with the uniparty establishment. To get its blessing, one must agree to continue illegal immigration and/or neocon/liberal world order foreign policy.
I would vote for desantis in 2028. I think that he would make a great continuation of Trump policies.
you’ve fallen for the Paul Ryan plan to destroy both Trump and DeSantis simultaneously.
Wrong - voted for the man twice despite his obnoxious style. His schtick has gotten stale.
Here we go again - the pearl-clutching neverTrumpers go nuts every time President Trump backs someone who is obviously going to win anyway. McCarthy was always going to win. McDaniels was always going to win.
Welcome to politics 101: Pick your battles. There is nothing to be gained by alienating party leaders who are obviously going to win. Zero. Nada. Zip. All that does is assure you will have enemies in high places.
Any of you who think you can do better than President Trump at politics are welcome to prove it by running for office yourself - I wish you luck (sincerely).
Agree just vote and be done with it it’s all one can do.
