Just so people understand what a ground war means in this part of the world. Russia is not the Soviet Union. Can they repeat their tenacity now Is it worth finding out?

Sorry Ukraine, your leaders have put you & your country into this by their actions they allowed to take place for 8 years, but not of our interest. So sad, too bad.
You’re going to get it from the Couch Commando NeoCon Brigade.
The biggest mistake the US and the Allies made during World War Two was sending arms to Russia instead of letting Russia and Germany beat each other to death.
FDR wanted to make the world safe for communism.
If history repeats itself then after looking back unorganized and incompetent the Russian army fell back, regrouped and eventually routed and destroyed the Wehrmacht, Will history repeat itself forever n Ukraine
“Russia is not the Soviet Union.”
Yet Putin passed a law so the Russian army can be called the Red Army again.
The hammer and sickle symbol of the Soviet Union is being installed on new government buildings and it’s still present on the old ones.
The red star of the USSR still adorns Russian military vehicles and ships.
The Red Army goes into combat flying the Red Banner.
Putin replaced the Russian national anthem with the Soviet national anthem on May 7, 2000.
And Russia keeps laying claim to the former Soviet Empire as if they have some sort of right to rule over Eastern Europe.
So yeah, Russia thinks they’re the heir to the legacy of the USSR even if you don’t.
Agreed.
> The biggest mistake the US and the Allies made during World War Two was sending arms to Russia <
Withholding those arms would have been a risky game to play. Because Hitler might then have blundered his way to victory. And something like 70% of the German military was tied up on the eastern front.
Had most of those forces been transferred to France, D-Day probably would have been a bloody failure.
But then again, the A-bomb was in the pipeline. So maybe Germany would have lost regardless.
I agree - which is one reason I believe it's foolish for the US to step into Germany's shoes and risk a "death match" with a nuclear-armed Russia.

“Better Red than Dead!” isn’t that right Mr. 1960’s Surrender Monkey?
100%
Victor Davis Hanson’s The Second World Wars is an excellent book that I strongly recommend if you haven’t read it. There’s also a short lecture series based on the book available via Hillsdale College.
Part of the genius of the book is that it brings together the tactics and struggle of the low level soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines, and the overarching logistics of the struggle. Looked at from a land area controlled and populations of the Allies vs. those of the Axis, there was no way the Axis was going to prevail in the long haul, especially after the three major setbacks of 1942 - El Alamein (Rommel stopped in North Africa), Midway (Japanese lose 4 fleet carriers and their aircrews), and Stalingrad (most of the battle was fought in 1942).
Looked at from a big picture logistics standpoint, Russia has 3X the population and more than 25X the land area of Ukraine. Even with all the US and EU help, it’s tough overcoming the weight of that!
What a wonderful day of celebration for our pro Soviet colleagues here at FR.
How many US servicemen died because Churchill bullied FDR and to not requiring the Soviets to declare war on Japan immediately?
That's funny - "surrender" to who, exactly? I'm an American, and last I heard, we had not been attacked. The US has no military treaty obligations to defend Ukraine, and no vital interests at risk there.
Who do you suggest that the US surrender to? Maybe Mexico, since the situation on that border certainly resembles an invasion!
;^)
7 and not making the USSR declared war on Japan immediately. Because of the battle in 1939 Japan was deathly afraid of the Soviet Union and they surrendered the second the Soviet Union entered the war, not because of Any nuclear bombs.
FDR did what Churchill told him, and a lot of that was against U.S. interest.
It was less the arms, and more the logistics. The logistics support we gave the Soviets in WWII was incredible! We fed them, gave them all their trucking motor transport, trains, strategic materials, you name it.
Here’s a *.pdf of From Major Jordan’s Diaries, which is a must-read on the subject.

In particular look at Chapter 9, which starts at p141 of the document / p127 of the pdf.
You’re wrong. The US has a vital interest in Ukraine...to continue all the money Laundering CONgress has been doing for 2 decades until Trump cut off their source. Thats why they impeached him. Thats why Vidman lied, and thats why the placed Biden in office to resume the laundering. They will do what Ukraine says to do or Zelinsky will rat them out.
