I have heard, but never verified because it sounds plausible, that Frankenstein was cobbled to gether from riffs and pieces from previously recorded tracks by Edgar Winter Group and recorded with fill ins to create the song. Thus the name "Frankenstein".
“Jessica” is absolutely the best. It’s the one I was thinking of, too.
Shortly after the album was released, I was in a hi-fi store in Burien, WA. The salesman brought me into their “high-end” room and closed the door. There he fired up a phase linear 700b powering two cerwin Vega speakers about the size of JBL L100’s, but not as deep. Oiled white oak. Attached to them was a downward firing subwoofer “coffee table”, also in oiled white oak.
He then put on Frankenstein. I’ll never forget it. The synth crawled down to shaking the room, and the drum kit was in the room. Breathtaking from beginning to end. My favorite rock instrumental to this day.
Great song, doesn’t make the driving songs list for me. Has to have a driving / car theme, is my criteria.

It’s called Frankenstein because it was constructed from bits of other songs they never got around to completing. For a while it was called “the one with the double keyboard solo” though obviously that was never going to wind up on the cover. Winter modified a keyboard so he could wear on a strap and move around the stage like a guitar player, but that keyboard weighed around 30 pounds. Also, it’s just great fun.

A guitar player that played with both of the brothers used to come sit in with the band I was in in Fl. Floyd Radford. Awesome picker and nice guy. He ended up as an engineer at LMC in Orlando. Also he had a band there called Tin House. Orlando, noT LMC 😂👍🎸🎤🔊

Saw Edgar Winter do this song live at The Spectrum in Philly. He went from instrument to instrument and played. He put his keyboard on the stage and was running and diving on it.The crowd went crazy. (it was the 70s.) Ronnie Montrose on guitar. Before “Frankenstein” it was Edgar Winter’s White Trash and the song was the very,very,long Tobacco Road.
I loved Frankenstein as a child (when it was a new song). In my teen years, I became very fond of Rush’s YYZ. (Live version from Exit stage left with the drum solo please).

I recently saw a reaction video of an Australian drum instructor seeing this video. He was speechless.

Yep, still have mine. Back in those days the High schoolers were putting in aftermarket speakers, like Jensen, in their cars. My friend did this in his mustang and the first time I heard this was in his car in the HS parking lot, he said you have to hear this :)
