Time to dust off the old parachute pants
I don’t recall seeing any of those styles in the 80s.
Overall, the 80s were a happy time. Today ... not so much.
Bring backs the Jams!!!!!
I’m hopeless. Straight creased slacks, button-down sport shirts, t-shirts, flannel shirts, cotton denim jeans, crew socks in blue, bermuda shorts, black and white. Nothing’s changed in 50 years. Were there “fashions” in the 80s? I must have missed that.
I do remember having dinner with a lady friend in Zermatt, Switzerland in 1977. She made fun of my green and white paisley polyester shirt. She also chided me for cutting the lettuce in my salad with a knife instead of stuffing the entire leaf into my mouth. I learned manners and styles don’t translate from the USA to the Continent.
Good point.
Well, technically the U.S. never saved Switzerland, so I guess you just have to accept it.
I look pretty damn good in them. However, I’m no longer a teenager, so who the hell knows what I look like in them. Lol.
I detest shoulder pads! Uuuuggggly!
Paisley was named after a town in Scotland, based on a Persian design, that was supposed to look like mangos. You were being cosmopolitan.
That’s one 80s trend I didn’t prefer on women.
Unless I see shiny spandex pants and 4 inch mules I won’t believe the 80s are back..
That’s what I thought! I was either way ahead or way behind the Swiss fashions of the day.
Her dad was a cardiologist and they had a gorgeous place and the dinner was wonderful. But all I remember is my fashion and gustatory faux pas.
Do you know the plural of faux pas?
The end of the 80’s were good times. The beginning of the 80’s?....Not much!
I graduated from professional school in 1979. I faced 20% interest rate when trying to open a practice. (Seriously, no kidding!) The mortgage on our house was 15%. For 5 years my husband and I dedicated ourselves to paying off debt. Wow! Was that ever a relief!
Same here. I went along with most 80s styles in my youth (loved oversized shirts/sweaters with leggings), but I used to cut the shoulder pads out of tops before I wore them.
Weirdly enough, in the singular, you don't pronounce the "s," and as a plural, you pronounce it as a "z."
If it means pants being worn in the general vicinity of a person’s waistline, then GO 80’S!!!!!
OH GOD this doesn’t mean the 70’s disco stuff are coming back I hope.
They abused the use of tacky
