This gets me thinking. I'd add the 1960s the embrace of a counter culture coupled with the collapse of the Republican party and conservativism. Both had an opportunity to embrace the working middle class and they largely walked away and into the arms of corporate lobbyists.
I wonder how many others are starting to feel that way also. This country is committing suicide by a 1000 cuts. Those were two of the biggest.

Absolutely but there are more. Hard to say which one is the most devastating of all since the Civil War. I once had a list of legislation I considered having brought us to this destruction. Not sure where it is now.
