Memphis cops on Friday night released footage showing the events leading up to the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols.
Horrific footage showed the moments he was stopped by police, him fleeing, then the vicious beating when they caught up and the lack of medical care.
Five officers involved in the January 7 incident have been charged with second-degree murder, and fired from the force.
CJ Davis, the well-respected Memphis police chief, said she had never witnessed anything so devastating in her policing career.
Meanwhile Benjamin Crump, an attorney representing the Nichols family, said Nichols was treated like 'a human piñata'.
The four clips - three from body cameras, one from a surveillance camera attached to a post - have shocked and angered America.
Here DailyMail.com breaks down the footage from start to finish - from the moment he was pulled over to him slumped next to a cop cruiser as EMTs watched on.
At 8:20pm on January 7, Nichols, who was born in Sacramento and moved to Memphis in February 2020, was driving home from a suburban park, where he had taken photos of the sunset.
He was driving along East Raines Road in south eastern Memphis when he encountered the police. One officer said he was 'cutting through traffic'.
'So we just try to get him to stop. He don't stop,' an officer told his colleagues, in the body camera footage. 'Hit the siren. Stop stop stop.
'Then he drove around, swerved like he gonna hit my car. 'So then I'm like - *******.
'He pull up to the red light. Stop at the red light. He put his turning signal on. 'So we jump out the car. '**** went from there.'

No. It isn’t. It’s about cops shooting too damn many people. Which they’ve been doing for decades. You want them to stop being violent STOP THE DAMN COPS. If we stop having cops MURDER people then BLM loses their supposed excuse. It starts with murder after murder after murder BY cops. They need to STOP. They need to be held accountable.

Exactly. My support of police ended completely during covid. They can defund them all as far as I'm concerned. I figure the majority are nothing but tax collectors with guns and a bad attitude towards citizens.

One is inclined to suspect a personal score of some kind being settled. No reason to think Tyre brought it on himself in any way, just some killers caught on camera.
Doesn’t matter. Because we know that cops that buy into the thin blue line consider ALL OF US scum. There’s our real problem. We armed people who consider us annoying and expendable and then wonder why they keep killing us. The only real racial component in all these it that it was the blacks who first stood up and said “this has to stop”. Honestly the rest of us should be embarrassed that we didn’t.
All police misconduct settlements, judgments and legal fees should be bail out of the police pension funds. If the pigs can’t retire due to their own stupidity, so be it. Let them live in a cardboard box under a bridge.

Unfortunately that would probably just make the union fight harder. Really what we need at this point is a pool of prosecutors, ones who will never have to work with cops on anything ever again, and therefore have no reason to half ass cases, to work these kinds of things. And to maybe build some trust automatic trials for all police involved violence. It’s way past time to stop tolerating this crap, crack down hard, all those cliches the cops use.
And we need to stop thinking and saying that the police are “heroes.” They aren’t. They’re tax collectors and extortionists with guns. Covid showed who they truly were. Simply the storm troopers for the left. The NKVD.
And re-balance the laws. A crime against a cop (especially one in plain clothes) should have a higher punishment. Crimes BY cops should get the higher punishment. Cops are projection of power, they’re a weapon, just like the Army. Civilians need to treat them that way, assume any cop you interact with might try to kill you, and that he’ll get away with it.
And for most people, the front line police are the only interaction that some people have with their government. That interaction should be as close to flawless as possible.
Hang or be lynched. Either way, problem solved.
I don’t have kids but I do have a growing nephew. I’ve helped teach him that there is no law, no matter how immoral, no matter how trivial, that the police will not murder you to enforce.
Yup. You really can’t trust them. If they don’t kill you anything you say can and will be used against you.
The cops may have prevented the EMTs from doing anything. That’s been known to happen
The cops need to have a Project Veritas interview so no one will ever talk about it again.
