—IMHO, the best ski area I ever skied on—
I ski patrolled there for a season.
The people living in Sandy neighborhoods on the approach to the canyons will be screwed. A big ugly gondola ruining the view they moved there for 50 years ago. Get rid of the pass that allows out of state interlopers priority, not to mention cheaper skiing, than the locals.
Having grown up just north of Salt Lake and done a lot of skiing, I know they need some sort of transportation improvement. The canyon is narrow and winding and traffic often has to wait for avalanche control before entering. However, just like the idiots who protested the Olympics, there will be plenty of malcontents who will complain and drive up the cost through legal (as in lawyers, not actual law) means. And they’ll do it because they “want the canyons preserved” and not “spoiled:.
I also wonder just where they will build the needed parking at the base of the canyon. There is not a lot of open land there.
