1) Not surprisingly, the reporter conveniently avoids mentioning the race of the suspects.

Consider the source. It’s a local TV news source. And it has long been a pet peeve of mine to notice that the worst, sloppiest, most inept form of journalism is from local TV news sources.
I am convinced that they hire nothing but junior college journalism dropouts who’s only qualification is that they look good on TV.
Check it out yourself. The next time you see a badly written report, check it and see if it’s not from a TV news station. I’ve seen fourth graders that can write better than they do.
