Four of the five Memphis Police officers charged in the death of Tyre Nichols have been released on a combined $1million bond after yesterday being arrested.
Justin Smith, Desmond Mills Jr, Emmitt Martin III and Tadarrius Bean have all now been released from Shelby County Jail, according to court records.
A fifth office, Demetrius Haley is still in jail with a $350,000 bond, with all five charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct, and official oppression.
Tyre Nichols, 29, died in hospital on January 10, three days after a traffic stop that ended with him being severely injured.
Shelby County District attorney Steve Mutlroy said Tyre was left bloody and bruised after he was pepper sprayed and beaten just yards from his home.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted an independent investigation into the use of force by Memphis cops.
All five were fired last Friday for violation of police, with City officials saying that they were notified on January 15.
It comes as Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis said on CNN that the video of the attack, which is set to be released today, is worse than that of Rodney King.
She added: 'I don't think I've witnessed anything of that nature in my entire career. I was outraged. It was incomprehensible to me. It was that bad.

I think all the white folks aught to riot BEFORE they release the viseo! That’ll show em!
Defies Humanity? I’ll be the judge of that.
One of these days when the video gets released.
“I wonder why they decided to release the video at 5pm on a Friday?”
Because “they” will have had all day (since “they” don’t work) to get all liquored up and will need refills by 5:00. (and TVs by midnight).
“The officers have three to six years of experience. All were members of SCORPION, a group of about 50 officers assembled a year earlier to deal with the high number of serious crimes. The officers ride unmarked cars and wear plainclothes with a bullet-proof vest marked POLICE.”

“Tyre Nichols was a 29-year-old man who died on January 10, 2023, three days after a traffic stop by five Memphis Police Department officers. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), he was stopped on January 7 for reckless driving, ran from an encounter with police and then had another. After he complained of shortness of breath, an ambulance took him to the hospital. An autopsy commissioned by his family found ‘extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating.’”
“Excessive bail shall not be required”
Amendment VIII
Without bail the legal system might enter an arrest, incarcerate & forget mode.
Pffffft. Of course they can and likely will. In fact, I'll be surprised if they don't.
Here, let me help you FRiend. This is how it will turn out:

Black on Black, nobody cares.

“Black on Black, nobody cares.”
There is a looting opportunity in the community.
Now it will be black on black and the media won’t care.
Does it honestly matter? Even in King’s case, he was on the ground getting the hell beat out of him. At what point does it become a crime? If the guy ran, ok. If he is taken to the ground handcuff him. The extracurricular ass beatings including kicking, pummeling, tasing, and clubbing is a step too far regardless of what transpired 30 minutes before. There is no context for what could amount to a lynching by uniformed officers of the law.
Defendants are Denied Bail routinely in America, see OJ
Often wondered why MADD did not speak out. If the cops had let King go, he could have caused an accident. They did not know whether or not he was under the influence.
Pity it was only the latter part of the video that was shown ad nauseam. The earlier footage sows him mooning the lady officer.
Well, since we all know there will be a major riot, why not preempt it by nuking Memphis at noon.
My mom and I were going cross country in late 79. We stayed in Memphis. All night all we heard were police sirens. My mom asked where are we in Hell? I said no, but close.
Looks close to any hiphop beatdown you see on tiktok without the face kicking and curb stomping.
Now, the police officers will have their opportunity to make their case in court, though, as we saw in the George Floyd case, facts didn't matter.
We have been watching law and order being dismantled in favor of the criminal. Already, we can read of instances throughout the country where criminals are free to steal and burglarize without consequences because the police have become unwilling to pursue them.
Happy Hour in some bars start at 3:00 and goes till 7:00. They will be buzzing pretty good by 5:00pm and watching CNN to get the video!
Riot All Night Long!
Don’t fight the cops, then you don’t get your head caved in.
That’s so easy even a caveman could figure it out!
I remember Rush covering Rodney King on this TV show. Rush showed King attacking the officers, high on PCP with the tazer wires hanging off of him. Rush played it over and over.
This was after the long police chase.
With that said. I miss Rush and I wonder what we will find out about Tyre.
