LSU student Madison Brooks died from 'multiple traumatic injuries' after being hit by car, coroner reveals: Good Samaritans gave CPR in pouring rain after she was 'dumped by her accused rapists at 3am'

A coroner confirmed that Madi Brooks died from 'multiple traumatic injuries' when she was hit by a car after allegedly being raped.

Two Good Samaritans reportedly stopped to perform CPR on the 19-year-old sophomore LSU student after the collision on January 15.

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office says that they were guided by first responders on the phone in the pouring rain after Madi was hit by the ride-share car.

Before the incidents, she was reportedly raped by a 17-year-old boy, who has not been identified, and Kaivon Washingon, 18.

Both have been arrested and charged with third-degree rape, and two other men – Everett Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, have been charged with being accessories to the incident.

The coroner confirmed that Madi's cause of death is 'multiple traumatic injuries, 2nd motor vehicle collision vs pedestrian' – meaning Madi was left incapacitated at the scene but died at the hospital.

No further information is being released at this time, with police confirming that the driver of the vehicle will not be charged as he was not impaired and contacted emergency services immediately.

A memorial has been created for the 'amazing young woman' who had 'limitless potential' by her friends on the highway where she died.

That boy is underage. A minor. However if he’s tried as an adult I do hope they release his name.

DNA from vaginal swabs would identify at least some of the penetrators.

The perps, who described her condition at the time to the police, and maybe also her 0.315% BAC.

She was incapacitated. It’s rape under the law when a victim is unable to consent with a clear mind.

A different article mentions she had a BAC over .30 and was basically carried out to a car. The seventeen year old coerced her to having sex in the car while the others were passengers. The 28 year old was uncle to one of the others. Apparently they had all been drinking at the bar which has had its license suspended. What a mess.

It’s a link in the story. The judge made negative comments about the defendants and that could taint the case and jeopardize his judgement. Potentially, a tainted case can result in the defendants being freed, if the state decides to not retry the case.

Me too.
Deepest sympathy to the victim’s family, and may she rest in peace.

I don’t how somebody so young can have a BAC over 0.3, which is three times the drinking limit. I can only guess that she had her drink spiked with something that accentuated the alcohol reading of her blood. Date rape drugs can incapacitate anybody.

I have personally walked around at a .373.
I was certainly a “bit off” mind you, and I drank a lot back then.
Is there a legal precedent to charge when the victim is dead?
I’m really asking.

There’s four. Three were apparently bystanders in the car. The seventeen year old did the rape and the 28 year old was uncle to one of the group.

Lol I don’t think you gave to be medically qualified to know someone is too drunk and not coherent.
That really isn’t the issue or cause of her death.Did she willingly get out of car? Did she call Uber/Lyft?

I think Rohypnol doesn’t increase BAC, but will certainly affect you.

I think your shooting from the hip doesn’t fly in court.
These guys were absolutely in the wrong and will lose in the court of public opinion. Actual court is different.

I can just imagine the uproar that would ensue if the race of the victim and the perps was reversed.

“If she’s dead, who is alleging rape?”

I wondered about this, too. Another story had quotes from one of the suspects saying that, paraphrasing, she was passed out drunk and he didn’t like it or something like that. Basically, the idiot rapists are ignorantly self reporting.

It’s not the only date-rape drug out there.
There are drugs that those of us on the outside of clubbing do not know exist.
I suspect drugging, simply because her alcohol content was on par with an alcoholic that has been drinking for thirty years. Perhaps she really could drink sailors under the table, I just can’t see that however.

The medical examiner (not the coroner) would determine if there was sexual activity, as well as if there were injuries consistent with the sexual activity being nonconsensual. The coroner would then make a ruling as to manner of death, but may also make rulings as to evidence of other crimes such as rape. Ultimately it will be up to the prosecutors to prove it if they want to charge them.

Depending on her tox report and other findings, likely the coroner.
