Sheriff Luna clarified that the weapon used in the attack was not an "assault rifle."
Rather, Luna said the suspect used “a magazine-fed semiautomatic assault pistol … that had an extended large-capacity magazine attached to it.”
The term "Assault Pistol" seems to be a recent addition to the gun control propaganda, and it is unclear what exactly it refers to.
The gun control lobby has previously used the term "Assault Rifle" and "Assault Weapon" to describe and demonize certain types of firearms, but these terms have been criticized by the gun community for being misleading and not accurate.
It seems that the gun control lobby is now resorting to inventing new terms to further their agenda, but it is unclear what criteria they are using to define what they call, an "Assault Pistol."
During a press conference on Sunday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna stated that the suspect in the shooting at a Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday night had used a semi-automatic "assault pistol".
10-4…..so a gun and magazine that has been banned in California for quite some time. But the only way to stop all of it is to ban everything.
“ Banned since 1989 under the Roberti–Roos Assault Weapons Control Act of 1989.”
Since when do criminals follow the law. Throw his azz in the pokey. Oh wait, he’s suicided. Never mind.
Sheesh, these people are weird.
Hoplophobia is really a disease. Kinda like gender dysphoria.
5.56mm
Won’t be long and there will be Assault knives and assault baseball bats. All Semi-automatic of course...
(1989)

As used in this chapter and in Sections 16780, 17000, and 27555, “assault weapon” means the following designated semiautomatic firearms:
.....
(b) All of the following specified pistols:
(1) UZI.
(2) Encom MP-9 and MP-45.
(3) The following MAC types:
(A) RPB Industries Inc. sM10 and sM11.
(B) SWD Incorporated M-11.
....
I guess an “assault pistol” is one that goes “Bang!”
It’s a semiautomatic but it looks like one of fully automatic machpistols that are popular in tge movies. Totally useless except for spraying bullets. It looks like the Ingram MAC-11. He had an extended magazine probably 30 rounds. I haven’t seen anything that says it was modified to be fully automatic. The Sheriff chose that description because the reporters who don’t know or care about tge differences would eat it up. He’s also a recent replacement for a more conservative Sheriff who tge liberals here didn’t like.
An Assault Pistol is a pistol that has a whip attached to it.
“I guess an “assault pistol” is one that goes “Bang!””
Assault pistol is one of the listed on the 1989 assault weapons banned list.
“The Sheriff chose that description because the reporters who don’t know or care about tge differences would eat it up. He’s also a recent replacement for a more conservative Sheriff who tge liberals here didn’t like.”
He chose that description because that is how it has been defined in California law since 1989.
“In the family of Lorcin’s, Jenning’s and Hi-Powers(not to be confused with a Browning High Power).”
I think you ARE confused. Hi-Power <> Hi-Point, and Hi-Point is not a stamped metal firearm. No relation whatsoever.
Ut-oh, don’t tell Geraldo!
My bad. You’re right. It’s been a long time since I’ve pulled one out of a perps waistband or car
The term “assault pistol” has been on their books since ‘89? And it hasn’t become a common part of the progressive gun grabbing lexicon in all that time?
Has California statute included terms like assault pointed stick or assault shoe?
I spent a lot of time and money at that Woolworths when I was a kid. I used to stop there to by a box or 2 of 22 ammo on my way up to my friend’s house a bit up Hudson. We would then go up near 2nd dam to plink with his 10/22, and then, if it was warm, go swimming and diving at the top of it afterwords. It was always a bonus when the nude college girls were up there sunning and swimming as they were usually nude. Ahhhh those crazy teen years.
