Soon to be electric chainsaws.
There’s never a charging station when you need one (like on an expressway blocked by a tree(s).
Lol. Perfect.
I got a free hockey mask with the purchase of my chainsaw
How do those solar powered chainsaws work? I assume gas chainsaws are or will soon be illegal
yep.
I got to be too old to sit and pull, and pull, and pull a gas saw hoping it starts.
Bought a battery one, with larger batteries and an extra chain.
While all my friends are doing what I just described, I am cutting down and sectioning trees. The damn thing cuts like nobody’s business.
Wish I had bought one years ago.
Just in-case the NYT author isn’t sure where the Santa Cruz Mountains are located.... the answer is: California.
BTW, in classical tradition, every story should mention “Place & Time”; and only after the “action” is following. All as a basic courtesy - beneficial to readers.
Most reporters omits the most important aspect of things alright they are more into the hype lies spin and utopia business.
Ping
I have a small electric chainsaw with rechargeable batteries.
Mr. mm uses the gas one for taking the big trees down, but mine can take down saplings and smaller diameter trees and trim the branches off the trees he took down.
It’s not as powerful as his but it’s small and light enough that I can easily handle it.
Chainsaws are necessary but I think the ultimate kick in the pants must be paying millions for a home, thinking you have found some solitude and hearing chainsaws all day.
I only have one tree in the yard. A couple years ago I bought a chainsaw, just to have. So far I’ve helped others.
That’s what you do.
OOps! I forgot when. “Who, what, when, where, why.”
Rush used to have a few of his comedy deals with chainsaw noises in the background.
Nope. They’ll take my MS-880, my MS-200T, or my 044 over their dead twitching body.
I can verify. I have a friend that lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains. A tree came down and blocked access. A neighbor and her husband, who both had chain saws, cleared the road.
Battery chainsaws were toys until the last few years. Problem? Batteries. Batteries sucked. Decent batteries for small chainsaws now unless a person needs hours of run time or invests in a pile of batteries.
Example…. Not a chainsaw but think it will give an idea on this. This last spring, I needed to get a new string trimmer and leaf blower to replace worn out gas powered gear. Looked at gas $$$ and was greatly offended as a registered cheapskate to pay the outrageous $$$ for pro level gas gear. No home owner grade gear at all other than electric. Under protest, I bought electric at 50% more $$$ more than the hero gas gear I replaced.
Now I have electric that weighs twice as much at half the power. I normally run out of battery charge 3/4 the way through the task. Takes 3+ hours to recharge. I refuse to buy a second battery at $50 or so. I'm saving my pennies until I get enough to get gas gear.
Will eventually give my son the electric gear because he doesn't know better or to my brother in law because my new crappy electric gear is better than his old electric crappy gear. Last year, I was at the lake house in OK and went through 4 batteries in several hours of leaf blowing. BIL’s 4 gang battery charger didn't keep up with charging so I had to quit with the blower before the job was done. Got out the rake.
