“The festering rot at the THE ENTIRE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT seems bigger and deeper than we ever guessed”
The founding fathers were wise and knew big government was the enemy of individual liberty. By giving the federal government few enumerated powers, and by instituting multiple checks and balances, they hoped to limit the ability of the federal government to grow and become tyrannical. Unfortunately future generations chose to ignore the worlds of the Constitution. Through Amendments to the Constitution, court opinions, the abdication by Congress of its budgetary responsibility, and all branches of government simply ignoring the language of the document, government has grown beyond any scale the founders could envision and has become completely corrupted in the process.
Not true. It implies we thought there was some redeeming value in the entire federal government. In the past five years or so I have come to the conclusion that my government, the country I have loved and served, is wholly corrupt beyond redemption to the point that I no longer fly the American outside my home because of the abject corruption and exporting of evil to other countries.
