Missouri is one of 29 states that has their own meat processing licensing and inspections. I can drive 20 miles and buy pasture raised beef and other meat that's been raised and processed on the farm . Unlike grass fed beef you might find online for $40/lb, these people's prices are in line with the grocery stores, within $2-3/lb. On the drive there, I go by hundreds of head of cattle. I'm raising meat goats. I have one laying hen and will be getting a half a dozen more for her to raise because she's a survivor and will lay eggs without me feeding her. Plenty of room for a garden and it will be getting bigger this year.
