You made an allusion to weight, and being 55, I don’t see men as slim or attractive as they were back then. By their mid 30s, they’re losing hair or shaving it off, and getting rotund. Most don’t age like Sam Elliot or Keanu Reeves, back then they did. Everyone is getting bigger if they’re not active, or living healthy lifestyle.
Women judge men on their looks, too. Both men and women will date someone willing to spend money on them, though.
