Yeah I saw that line, and this one:
“...After witnessing Knittle plunge into the water,
the friend tried to grab the line but missed...”

Dude and pole were in the water, was the line still on deck?

I cannot stress ENOUGH how important it is for EVERY fisherman to CARRY A SHARP KNIFE WITH AT LEAST A 2" BLADE for CUTTING A LINE in an emergency situation.

NO fisherman is going to break 20, 30, 40, 50 or higher LB test with his hands (ESPECIALLY if the line is taught) if his hands or arm get somehow wrapped around a line with a large fish taking him down into the water.

If I ever see a fisherman go into the water who is somehow wrapped around a line, I AM PULLING MY KNIFE AND GOING IN AFTER HIM. There is no way I watch a tuna, huge catfish or any other fish take a man to his death...

CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, CARRY A SHARP KNIFE ON YOUR PERSON AT ALL TIMES WHEN FISHING because WEIRD THINGS CAN HAPPEN.
