On a farm close to Hanoi, Le Van Hien picks out the best bird among his flock of "dragon chickens" - a breed with legs as thick as a brick that can fetch up to US$2,000 a head.
The lumpy legs of the Dong Tao chicken - named after the commune where it is bred in northern Vietnam - are considered a delicacy, and are particularly popular among the wealthy during the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, known as Tet.
Hien's prized 4kg bird, whose enormous legs make up around a fifth of its body weight, was sold for about US$150 - but especially large pedigree chickens have been valued at more than 10 times that. Some are even entered into beauty contests. The key to the bird's taste is its diet of corn and rice and the freedom it has to roam, Hien told AFP.

Does Walmart sell Ding Dong Tao chicken?
Going to be hard to fly with cankles as big as Hillary’s.
Looks more like chickens afflicted with “elephant man syndrome”
Looks like they have elephantiasis.
I suspect the dinosaurs looked a lot like that.
It’s just a chicken with fat legs, no big deal.
I would like to eat one.
That’s a heckuva drumstick!
BTDT in GOW3. d;^)
What my legs looked like before my liver transplant….
Lol!
I can totally see the avian link to dinosaurs.
A man was driving along the motorway when he noticed a chicken running alongside his car. He was amazed to see the chicken keeping up with him, as he was doing 60 mph. He accelerated to 70, and the chicken stayed right next to him. He sped up to 75 mph, but the chicken overtook him.
Then the man noticed that the chicken had three legs. So he followed the chicken, speeding all the way, and ended up at a farm. He got out of his car and saw that all the chickens on the farm had three legs.
When he spotted the farmer he asked him, “Where did you get these chickens?”
The farmer replied “Well, everybody likes chicken legs, so I bred a three-legged bird. I’m going to be a millionaire.”
The man was impressed and asked him how they tasted. The farmer said, “Don’t know, I haven’t caught one yet.”
I’m in VN for Tet…will have to see if I can find these.
Birds are the descendants of dinosaurs, or so the ‘scientists’ tell us..............
