(KRON) — After weeks of atmospheric rivers, bomb cyclones and Pineapple Express moisture, California reservoir levels have seen a steep rise.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service shared an infographic from the Department of Water Resources, which laid out just how much California’s reservoirs have filled after weeks of heavy rain.
While none of the major reservoirs are at capacity – in fact, many are still less than half full – many are at or above their historical average for this point in the rainy season. Oroville, for example, is at 54% capacity, but 99% of where it usually is in mid-January....

It’s killing their fake climate crisis
They’ll be empty within the year. The drought is political”
Right on the money... That was my first thought too. It foils their self made “crisis agenda”.

Yup.
Shasta should be holding back more, the Sacramento River is running as high as I’ve ever seen it, so they are all ready pissing it all away as fast as they can.
Keep in mind that there will still be water shortages this summer.
Gawd makes droughts, politicians make water shortages.
CaCaLand needs water storage of these regular horrific storms to tide us over in the regular drought years. But, out here in CaCaLand the treehuggers took control decades ago and water storage projects were purposely destroyed as population doubled.
Reservoirs have been low because they have been drained by the extra people. Nothing to do with drought.
Obviously, this crisis is NOT fake, because before Nuisance became governor, California’s climate NEVER changed!
8+)!
Rain tomorrow. Wet pattern perhaps redeveloping in about 10 days. Those Santa Clara County reservoirs are all relatively small; that’s why they’re full. There could be significant urban flooding if the rain cranks up again.
Sorry to hear that. It is all becoming far too predictable.
This year was predicted to be a “La Niña” year - a dry year. Once again, the “climate specialists” fail to predict the IMMEDIATE future.
But they know everything about the distant future and are willing to destroy our civilization based on their “hunch”.
“A handful of desalination plants and new reservoirs would make drought years far less consequential. Unfortunately the greens block them.”
Well, yeah. Of course. If you solve the problem, they have nothing to complain about and no excuse to force others to do give them money or do their bidding.
No different than the NAACP. As soon as you give them what they want, they find something else to complain about.
Problems solved means politics thwarted. There are only two objectives for politicians once elected.
1) Get re-elected
2) Keep problems alive do that one can use them to insure #1
Almond farmers use tremendous amounts of water. Why not create more reservoirs close to them?
The shortsighted “live in a cave” demos want to be sustainable...ha! Nature and entropy will make the status quo unsustainable soon enough
When I lived in the Sierras we got 27 feet of snow in March on year.
