EMERGENCY crews had to smash down the wall of a flat during a 17-hour bid to rescue a 50st heart attack victim. They then built a ramp to get him out his first-floor council pad in an estimated £10,000 operation.
Among those there were more than 25 firefighters, 15 paramedics, five cops and an urban search and rescue team — who normally deal with earthquakes. Council officials were also on hand to survey damage to the block in Acton, West London, which is home to more than 40 residents.
The operation began with a 999 call at 2am on Friday. Medics arrived and treated the heart attack patient — known only as Manuel.
Fire crews were summoned at 9am to knock down an outside wall. They then built a plywood ramp and used ropes to hoist the patient from his king-sized bed on to a stretcher, before wheeling him into an ambulance at 8pm. He was taken to a special ward at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
Neighbours told how Manuel lives on takeaway deliveries.
Vernon Bannister, 74, said: “Last time I went in he had the biggest TV I have ever seen. This is the third time they’ve tried to take him — the last time the bed broke. Now they’ve had to take half the building apart. There’s other people in this building that are sick and they have to pay for it.”
They’re talking about his weight. 50 stones
About the size ... a variety of different people.

Take him out in pieces.
Over the years, we’ve seen stories about a morbidly obese man or woman who could not get off of a couch for years. Subsequently, their skin grafted to the couch by way of urine and feces soaked fabric. Obviously, these people couldn’t get in that situation without direct assistance.
Which brings me to “what has society devolved to in this day and age”.
Just do the “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and torch the place.
So what’s that crest? Is he a Knight of the Buffet Table? His sword is a pizza cutter? He rides in on a food truck? He toasts the king with a hot glass of lard? Haven’t seen that many French fries in one place since I used to load box cars with 700 pound loads of potatos at a time.
1 stone equals 16 pounds. 50 stone equals 800 pounds. That is a lot of Twinkies.
He ordered some take-away...fish & chips, 2 pizzas, mutton pie and a wee bit of stout (15 pints)...while waiting for the workers to rescue him.
Maybe it was just something he ate.
It’s a joke, son....
Sir Comference?
Yeah, bad case of heartburn. 🙂
“50st”?!
A obese “woman” here in the states was so filthy, had been sitting so long on her couch that the springs were actually embedded in her flesh. Others have had insect infestations living in their bodies in between the rolls of flesh.
Can’t find his (****) to take a leak; can’t clean himself after he craps the bed, let alone get up to change it; but, he can easily find his mouth & remote.
SO...considering the above, who are his enablers? It’s a lead pipe cinch he can’t answer the door to receive his take away meals.
Yeah, I DO blame the ‘victim’ in cases like this; had more than one of them taking up 2 beds locked together in the ICU while I was working.
You do know that is a picture of a character in an Austin Powers movie, right?
