Fluid on the lungs: A little-known hazard linked to open water swimming (Pulmonary edema)
Medical Xpress / British Medical Journal / BMJ Case Reports ^ | Jan 9, 2023 | James Oldman et al

Fluid on the lungs (or pulmonary edema, as it's formally known) is a relatively little-known hazard associated with open water swimming, warn doctors.

Older age, swimming long distances, cold water, and female sex are among the risk factors, as are high blood pressure and pre-existing heart disease. But it frequently occurs in those who are otherwise fit and healthy, highlight the authors.

Open water swimming has become very popular, with more than 3 million enthusiasts in England in 2021 alone. But mounting evidence points to a link between the activity and a condition called swimming-induced pulmonary edema, or SIPE for short.

First reported in 1989, SIPE leaves swimmers struggling to draw breath and depletes their blood of vital oxygen. It affects an estimated 1-2% of open water swimmers, but cases are likely to be underreported, say the authors.

It's not clear exactly what causes SIPE. But it likely involves increases in arterial pressure in the lungs secondary to centralization of blood volume in a cold environment, combined with an exaggerated constriction of these blood vessels in response to the cold and increased blood flow during physical exertion.

But recurrence is common and has been reported in 13-22 percent of scuba divers and swimmers, suggesting a predisposition to the condition, say the authors. They advise swimming at a slower pace, accompanied, in warmer water, without a tight-fitting wetsuit, and avoidance of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen, to minimize risk.

For those experiencing symptoms for the first time, the authors recommend stopping swimming and getting out of the water right away, then sitting upright, and calling for medical assistance if required.

"The UK Diving Medical Committee has published guidance for divers. However, at present, there are no formal national medical guidelines concerning the recognition and management of this complex condition," they note.

Older age, swimming long distances, cold water, and female sex are among the risk factors [...]

Sorry, but I'm not going to stop having sex with females just to improve my odds when I swim the Channel!

Or did the author actually mean, "[...] cold water, and being of the female sex [...]"?

Interesting - I used to open-water swim a lot, about 90% of the time in a swimming wetsuit as the water was too $%*@! cold otherwise.

Of course this advice…

For those experiencing symptoms for the first time, the authors recommend stopping swimming and getting out of the water right away, then sitting upright, and calling for medical assistance if required.

…is a bit hard to follow, as when you're open water swimming, you're way out there in the water, with a long way to go or go back!!!

These days I look twice at 'alerts' telling us normally accounted risks have previouslyl undiscovered harm - because...'vaccines'

Note that the CDC's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has received 99.6% of all reports of pulmonary edema following vaccination, compared with all other vaccines with records in VAERS for the past 30+ years.

Pulmonary edema is often caused by congestive heart failure. When the heart is not able to pump efficiently, blood can back up into the veins that take blood through the lungs. Using a search field for VAERS data, searching the term 'congestive heart failure' displayed results for which Covid 'vaccines' received 64% pf all reports of post vax heart failure. Said another way, over 1.5 million reports of the adverse event symptom 'congestive heart failure' were reported following Covid 'vaccination'

I have seen the tactic of implying a reference date prior to an incident, in this case portraying the uptick in congestive heart failure as a long-term trend. Doesn't impress me; they say whatever they want these days.

I'll include the following table because I haven't seen it anywhere else. Vaccine doses for reports of Adverse Events to VAERS.

And if you ever have a severe asthma attack while sky-diving, just lie down and then consult your physician as soon as possible!

Wouldn’t it be more dangerous IN the lungs, as opposed to ON the lungs?

No doubt and racists too! For that matter, swimming is racist as blacks are more likely to drown since those growing up in inner cities often can’t swim.

Infectious Disease ping - CDC's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) lists Pulmonary Edema in 99.6 % as an adverse effect of covid vaccines.
This is not limited to just the covid 'vaccines', but includes all vaccines reported
This is a 12/30/2022 VAERS report from the CDC on Acute Pulmanary Adema

" Note that the CDC's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has received 99.6% of all reports of pulmonary edema following vaccination,
compared with all other vaccines with records in VAERS for the past 30+ years."

" Pulmonary edema is often caused by congestive heart failure.
When the heart is not able to pump efficiently, blood can back up into the veins that take blood through the lungs.
Using a search field for VAERS data, searching the term 'congestive heart failure'
displayed results for which Covid 'vaccines' received 64% pf all reports of post vax heart failure.
Said another way, over 1.5 million reports of the adverse event symptom 'congestive heart failure' were reported following Covid 'vaccination'"

(My Comment) - The original point of the article dealt swimmers lungs and inhaled water during water sports.
However, the concern about Pulmonary Edema crosses over from water sports into health issues shared among the covid vaccinated.
Interesting, .. .
