Sad to hear that. When we were there, one lane of Hwy 1 washed out too, between Vandenberg and Santa Maria. The hillside just collapsed under that lane.

There are many weather events there, including Vandenfog, that are pretty extreme.

The most intense lightning I ever saw was in a band of thunderstorms just over 101 at Buelton near Lompoc. I lived on Oklahoma for six years and I saw some doozies there. This one won, hands down. I counted 40 lightning strokes in a minute
