They were helping the Germans rearm from the end of WWI until the Nazi Party didn't need to keep up the charade after 1933, so that particular symbiotic relationship goes a long way back. The old canard about how Hitler didn't dare invade because the Switzers were all regular William Tells was more farfetched than the "America has a rifleman behind every blade of grass" bit.
Dad taught history for more than three decades, and he could be rather sarcastic about Switzerland's (and Sweden's) vaunted "neutrality." Mankind would benefit by turning over this particular rock and letting everyone see what is underneath.
