He had the authority to send the disputed states’ votes back to the legislature - possibly saving our republic. Now the dems voted to remove even that provision.

I’m not sure about that part. I would agree with you IF the GOP legislatures themselves in the disputed states put up their own slates of electors, per their actual power delegated by the Constitution. But instead, they fumbled, and state GOPs put the electors forth instead.

If I had two competing slates of electors, both selected in a Constitutional matter, then I would send the whole mess back to that state to fix. I wouldn’t consider an alternate slate of electors just because a state GOP — not the legislature — sent them.
