I want to see a SWAT team rappel off the roof and come crashing through the windows of the Oval Office.
Political theater is composed by those who have the most to lose if an accurate and impartial assessment of the situation ever is unmasked. The artful use of narrative, and a successful manipulation of the flow of data, have been the tools of choice to protect this intellectual construct with the color of law, but law applied in a manner never envisioned by the original authors of that part of the statutes.
Governments, by their very nature, are primarily ruled for the benefit of the few at the top, the rule of men, and not the rule of law. The novel concept of making governments conform to the rule of law and not to the whims of a Maximum Leader is really a very revolutionary change, and one that is becoming ever more difficult to extend and maintain. There are so many junctures at which is is advantageous to “make an exception” for a special case, only to have the exception become the rule, and destroy the original intent of the statute.
Then it just turns into a “distance and direction” urination contest. With the dominant power always changing the positions so that rivals end up facing the wind.
