I stupidly said yes to downloading windows 11. It has downloaded but not yet installed. I want to uninstall/delete it preferably before it installs itself. I am computer illiterate and need some handholding. I know my fellow Freepers are all knowing and can help me

Windoze has always been buggy bloat-ware. You might want to consider converting to Linux. It tends to run well even on older machines.

Doesn’t the Windows install process tell you if your hardware won’t run the software to be installed?

That is what he kind of said. He said “for it to work properly”.

You do want it. It's much better than Windows 11. There hasn't been a bad version of windows since before 7. They're rock solid.

Huh? Do you mean that Windows 11 is better than 10? Or better than 7?

My office computer, which is a Dell laptop so we can take it home for work-at-home, runs Windows 10 Enterprise.
It works ok for what we do.
I have a big monitor attached to it and also a “real” keyboard. And there’s a little separate box needed to get this stuff connected together.
My home computer is old and runs Windows 7. I see no reason to upgrade hardware or software.
If I upgrade I’ll buy a new computer with Windows preinstalled.
Does the new Windows require a periodic payment to use it?

Me too; I’m staying with it.
Years ago, I bought 2 new copies of Win-7 Pro x64 at the local computer shop, and have them stored in my electronics section.

Check to see if you have a Restore Point, in your BackUps; it’s worth a try.
Win-7 Pro x64 was the best O/S they ever came out with.

Remember windows systems were created by Bill Gates. No wonder there are so many computer viruses.

Win-10-11 hates “legacy” hardware and software.
