I always heard maternal-grandfather. My paternal grandfather was bald. My maternal-garndfather had a head full of white hair before dying at 86 (Muniemaker cigars, hard liquor, home made fried chicken and cheesecake all the way through). My brother and I have full heads of hair. I think that is the better test.
