When Mr Chen's 85-year-old father fell ill with Covid in December, it was impossible to get an ambulance or see a doctor.
His father managed to find a bed at another hospital, but only through a special contact, and had by then developed a severe lung infection.
The elder Mr Chen has now recovered...
With mass testing, stringent quarantines and sudden, sweeping lockdowns gone, families like Mr Chen's are wary of what lies ahead.
But younger Chinese, all of whom did not wish to be named, feel differently - and some told the BBC they were voluntarily exposing themselves to infection.
A 27-year-old coder in Shanghai, who did not receive any of the Chinese vaccines, says he voluntarily exposed himself to the virus.
"Because I don't want to change my holiday plan," he explains, "and I could make sure I recovered and won't be infected again during the holiday if I intentionally control the time I get infected." He admits he did not expect the muscle aches that came with the infection, but says the symptoms have been largely as expected.
Another Shanghai resident, a 26-year-old woman, tells the BBC she visited her friend who had tested positive "so I could get Covid as well".
But she says her recovery has been hard: "I thought it would be like getting a cold but it was much more painful."
Ms Wang, another Beijing resident, and her family have pre-purchased Paxlovid before it becomes too expensive, as well as an oxygenator and pulse oximeter, for her grandfather-in-law. He has not gotten the virus but is in his 90s.

“I thought it would be like getting a cold but it was much more painful.”
The propaganda continues——
I think our bodies are all a bit different in how they react to such an infection. Those with a good immune system probably fare pretty well. Others might have worse symptoms. At least these people are understanding that getting it gives them better immunity than the vaccine. And maybe fewer dire consequences.

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters....
That said, I will never-ever take a mRNA shot.i came down with covid and so did my wife and it was a mild cold in my opinion. (First hand)
Early in the pandemic someone wrote an article reminding us of how families used to have “measles parties” for kids to be sure they all got it as children, when it is minor. The idea is to develop immunity while safe rather than risk getting it as an adult when it is far more dangerous. Good to see common sense like this making a comeback.
It's from the BBC. That's how the Brits say it. They also say "fell pregnant", which I always find amusing.
The propaganda continues——
I wouldn't call this one statement propaganda.
I got "it" a couple of months ago.
A day or two of mild cold like symptoms.
1 1/2 day of the horrids, muscle aches, felt like one foot in the grave.
2-3 weeks of medium cold like symptoms, slow recovery.
Almost 70 years old, exercise, take vitamins, etc.
Fine now, not dead yet.
With 9000 per day dying from Covid in China, the US is not far behind with 5 million illegal none vetted, non vaxxed immigrants being distributed through out the Country this past year. The American taxpayer is doing a great job supporting their own suicide.
The victims should write a strongly worded letter to their chicom leader.
you might want to rethink the concept of measles parties. Besides causing fetal death and birth defects in the unborn of exposed mothers, and serious disease in exposed elderly:
1 in 4 people who get measles end up hospitalized.
https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/why-measles-parties-are-a-bad-idea-for-parents/
“The risk of measles causing encephalitis, an inflammation of the coverings around the brain, is one in 2,000 children...
Children under the age of one are much more at risk from a complication of measles called subacute sclerosing panencephalitis....chronically infecting the brain. Your child will recover from the initial measles infection, but about seven years later will gradually become unwell and finally die.”

chicken pox parties used to be a thing, too. Those children, now older adults, have a high probability of developing shingles
Moral of the story is, just like measles or pox back then, we don’t know long-term effects of CV - on adults or children. We do know that CV affects people differently; for some it’s a bad cold and for others it’s bone-crunching pain and long covid. We also know that the latest variants are highly contagious putting those who refuse vaccination and those for whom the vaccine doesn’t work very well at high risk. The goal should be to not get covid and barring that, to not be involved in situations where you’re intentionally spreading it.
Thanks for the heads up about Measles and Chicken Pox.
I am wary of being infected by some poor soul who has been “vaccinated” and is incubating and shedding the latest variant of the WuFlu, or shedding spike proteins and other detritus from the JABs that might replicate inside the victims
We are following the FLCCC Prevention Protocols including the 1% Providine nasal spray.
A couple squirts of the 1% Providine when getting home after being in crowds, stores or public buildings gives a sense of “at least doing something.”
