CHICAGO-There is outrage in a Chicago neighborhood as a former school gets ready to house hundreds of migrants.
Residents say they were blindsided by the move and feel they are being ignored. Now, they are fighting back on the city's decision to use a former elementary school to house migrants from the Texas border.
"The community feels disrespected, they feel as though they were not included and they need answers today," said community leader Jennifer Maddox.
As early as Friday, migrants could be moving into the former Wadsworth Elementary School located at 64th and University Avenue in Woodlawn.
However, a group of residents and community leaders met Thursday morning to protest this decision.
20th ward Ald. Jeanette Taylor says she was not consulted on the plan nor was she able to talk with residents about their feelings before a decision was made to use the building as a temporary shelter for asylum seekers.
Residents want to know what the security plan will be, the timeline and if background checks will be conducted.
The alderwoman and other community stakeholders feel there are issues of crime, unemployment and homelessness in their neighborhood that should be addressed by the city first.
"There is a lack of resources in our community, we don't need anyone else to come in and suck those up. We're tired, Ms. Lightfoot," said Maddox. "The approach that was taken was unfair and the community feels it was a slap in the face not to include them in the decisions and giving them a seat at the table," said Maddox.
Earlier this week, a city official confirmed they've been making repairs to the building to accommodate the migrants.
FOX 32 has sent multiple requests to the mayor's office for a response to the community's protest but has not yet heard back.

This is how City of Chicago elections are done.
This was from a Precinct Captain I worked with. Actually he and the techs were temp contractors that reported to me. Some of the Techs that worked for Phil told me he was a PC. He didn’t work for the city tho, he inherited his precinct from his father who did. This was in late 1980s, Phil said it so matter of factly, there was no reason to doubt him. It was me asking him what it was like being a Precinct Captain in the city that started Phil laying out this “roadmap” in the life of a PC. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some points.
*ALL Precinct Captains work for the City - virtually ALL.
*Precinct Captains must get 95% to 105% of their registered voters to the polls.
NOTE: there are almost NO GOP poll watchers in the poor precincts.
*Precinct Captains provide transportation for their voters, usually w City vans w mag signs over the Dept of !!! van doors.
*Precinct Captains in poor n working poor precincts arrange the buffets close to the polling place. Usually in the same building, sometimes across the hall from the polling place.
*Precinct Captains appoint trusted people to pass out the palm cards to voters as they file in to vote.
*Precinct Captains usually have co-workers drive the vans.
*Precinct Captains will loan voters to other Precinct Captains that are behind their quota, this is done w the voter’s name written on the palm card. IOW, that van full of voters have already voted at their polling place, n will now vote again, usually for $20 besides the buffet they already had.
*Precinct Captains in wealthier precincts don’t need to provide buffets bec most of their residents work for the city or have family that works for the city.
If a Precinct Captain misses his quota once, he loses his PC position and almost always his City job. That’s incentivizing.
Palm cards are printed cards telling the voter who to vote for and how to vote on issues.
Leaving Illinois in 1993 was the gift that keeps on giving.
Blacks always vote for their oppressors.
HAHAHA. Shut up you uppity black democrats. You will vote for the democrat no matter what. That’s why the democrats don’t care about you. You think Lightfoot and the democrats care about you? Your community voted 110% for the democrats. And you will still vote for the democrat no matter how many illegal aliens take your welfare, housing, medical care, and free education. Embrace the suck, chumps.
The blacks vote 110% democrat. If the democrats even lose 5% they still get 105% of the vote.
I foresee a war starting between the blacks and illegals country wide. The dems want to replace the blacks as they suck up too much welfare and don’t work. the illegals will work cheap and vote dem so the blacks are no longer needed.
If there were enough morons, Deep State wouldn’t have to steal elections, would it?
Honestly, in Chicongo, a steady dilution with “migrants” might improve things.
So we have a group of racists complaining about the sanctuary city status they have voted for their entire lives, Who cares, I hope you get a few hundred thousand more
They don’t have to in Illinois...Chicago has more than enough morons,
Nobody likes being on the democrats replacement list.
