US National Football League star Damar Hamlin woke up after collapsing during a game and asked doctors treating him in hospital if his team won the game.
The Buffalo Bills star suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during Monday night's game in Ohio, causing an outpouring of grief from football fans.
Doctors and his team say he has shown "remarkable improvement" in the past 24 hours and is "neurologically intact".
Hamlin has been in the intensive care unit since he was taken off the field.
He has been communicating with doctors by writing after waking up.
One of Hamlin's physicians, Dr Timothy Pritts, said he had asked who won the game between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hamlin is still on a ventilator in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center to help his breathing.

His agent, Ron Butler, confirmed to CNN that Hamlin was awake and had been holding hands with his family in the hospital.

Cole Beasley definitely is not, and I do not believe Josh Allen is either from what I have read.
There are several things that can and very often one or more do go wrong in the lungs due to and following cardiac arrest, that have little or nothing to do with post arrest neurological injuries / trauma. Check out this article regarding some:

Obviously there could be other neurological injuries too, but if Mr. Hamlin is already able to write notes and ask relevant questions (in this case a really relevant question, at least to him!), it may be the non-neurological problems in his lungs and other organs that present major hurdles.
Not only that, a very relevant / timely question (at least to him) as I just posted.
When my brother was recovering from flu induced pneumonia and stroke, at first he could not write legibly, and, then once that improved, for a day or two much of what he wrote didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Granted some of that may have been the meds.
How about the sports media too talking like Hamlin was already dead.
NFL was among the first to mandate the jabs. Don’t know if they’ve been mandating boosters or not. If so, they should be on their 5th jab.

I would say your response is pure BS. Making a blanket judgement based on one case history is beyond ignorance. I’m a paramedic with over 20 years experience in pre-hospital and hospital environments. The facts support my statement, and in the end you admit your son’s survival was a miracle, and I agree with that. I also stated that if Hamlin survives it would be a miracle. What’s the difference in our positions?
Which means that he doesn’t agree that the game should have been stopped. He expected an outcome.

Sorry, you made the blanket statement. Our difference is that your statement “that most people die” certainly takes hope and prayer out of the equation, not to mention age, fitness, and overall health. Incidentally, this morning Hamlin is breathing on his own, the respirator has been removed. Our son was a HS athlete 201 pounds, excellent health, seventeen yo (when he left the hospital he weighed 159) which were all major factors in his recovery as the docs told us it would be.
Then every time we see a "Hamlin" story we should declare something like,
"Young, healthy, strong, and unexplainable except for the history of the COVID vaccine of which Hamlin is presumptively a victim.
"STOP GOVERNMENT DEATH PROTOCOL (AKA falsely named 'government healthcare')"!!!!!
