Notice the PC young people (now many in their late 40s) went crazy over saving the planet and avoiding climate change. Don’t ask for water glass at a restaurant, re-use plastic shopping bags, no plastic straws, don’t put long plastic cases on cds, force catalytic converters for all cars).
But they quickly accepted tossing out all devices that wore out for even just were the old model. No changing of parts or repairing radios, tape players, TVs or computers. Everything quickly tossed onto the garbage heaps.
I remember when Mad Magazine described the concept of Planned Obsolescence to me.
I could not believe people would be so evil as to actually do that.
I sold my 1960s Jacobsen mannor 21 lawnmower in around 2010, yea I had to fix it and do stuff over the years, but I bet it is still running for its new owner
