With all the hits going on every game, every year, every where from peewee to NFL, Mr. Hamlin was the unlucky one.
“MAY”
Speculation.
Speculation, it is always the ‘worst’ explanation.
Regardless of what caused his cardiac arrest, we can be assured that “science” will mot be used to find the answer!
From looking at the video, I think he might have gone into cardiac arrest from that hit, regardless of anything else.
He took that hit in a very bad area, affecting:
- Chest: heart
- Lungs
- Throat: airway
- Neck: spine, body’s electrical system
- Head: brain
- Jaw/mouth/chin: airway
There’s also not all that much protection in those areas, despite how much safety gear players wear.
Once when I was working in a factory, I accidentally walked into some machinery due to my safety goggles being fogged up. I hit a leg and an arm pretty badly at the same time. I’d bumped into other things causing myself pain before, of course, but the dual, simultaneous hits almost made me nauseous and like I might pass out for a few minutes afterwards.
So I do that think a straight-on, heavy-duty hit like that which simultaneously impacts the chest and snaps back the head a bit, with all those areas mentioned being affected, could conceivably cause a player to go into cardiac arrest.
I forgot to mention, what hit him, too, was the other player’s helmet. That’s a lot of force, coming from a moving NFL player, coming right at you.
Myocarditis anyone?
It’s actually a bit similar to how former Buffalo Bill was nearly paralyzed when attempting to make a tackle about 15 years ago:

Oh brother. Dirty up the water with a bunch of speculation ex-spurts. The truth can never be heard no matter what it is.
There are a lot of similarities between the injuries of Hamlin and former Bill Kevin Everett. Both had an opposing playing coming right at them that they were attempting to stop, and both took the impact of their collision to the upper body and head region, with the players’ helmets colliding in Everett’s case. In Hamlin’s case, the impact came from the other player’s helmet and shoulder and he took it to his chest and chin region.

I just pray he can come out of this and if so, can lead a somewhat normal life. So sad for his family and kids. I can’t imagine being his mom and watching that from the stands.
May have happened at the point of injection.

I figure all the heart issues will be forgotten about once everyone begins figure out how seldom new babies are born. I hope not, but that is the fear. I bet China loves Bill Gates.

So we've had over 3,000 blows to the chest in that 5 ms window that could have caused atrial fibrillation. If only 1% of those had caused a major event, we should have had 33 similar events on the field since 1920 due to such hits to the chest. And you could probably double that for exhibition games, practices, scrimmages, preseason games, etc. So we should have seen over 50 such events.
Yet we only have ONE?
Caveat --> My numbers are probably all wrong.
And note the bit about the NFL and the COVID-19 Community Corps.
On that, from 2021...
Note to the players: Haven't you guys been wondering how much taxpayer money the NFL got in return for doing this to you?
