My grandpa would buy one of those huge candy canes, about a foot long and about 2 inches in diameter.
Usually they had a ‘punch card’ at the little Mom & Pop store we bought groceries at. You would punch out a little circle on the card and reveal a price and that’s what you paid for the cane. I remember the ‘regular’ price was 59 cents, and that’s what the majority of the punches were, with a few being somewhat less and there was supposedly a ‘free’ hidden somewhere on the card, though I never saw it..............
Good to know - my son is asking me to cook a pork loin, we cooked one for New Year’s last year and it was absolutely wonderful.
That’s a cute gimmick. They should try that with ground beef these days, LOL!

I think it was for some charity................
My wife and friends like them as a edible garnish in Chocolate Martinis.
