In the 1960s and '70s, facial hair -- including mustaches, sideburns, goatees, Van Dykes, soul patches, mutton or lamb chops and other creative topiary -- was a means of free expression and identity. The 1950s had been an era of extreme clean-shavenness; in movies of the time, a 5 o'clock shadow was a visual shorthand for intoxication or derangement. As young men threw off the shackles of conformity, they began experimenting with facial hair. From the beatniks' goatees and Van Dykes to full hippie beards, and then into the '70s with massive sideburns and pimp-ish mustaches. If you could grow it on your face, you had free rein to do so.

Currently in the first one.
I prefer the second series where he grows the goatee.
Right now he’s in the bald-faced/tonsure phase.
I have watched this series so many times it’s crazy.
Used to PBS binge.
Black Adder, Red Dwarf, Hitchhikers Guide, Monty Python, Sherlock Holmes [Jeremey Brett]
Still pissed that NO ONE has ever done The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever.

Yeah i think the second and third series were the two best. Even like Hugh Laurie playing the prince. Now I am watching him on Avenue 5.

Per your last comment, they would just screw it up now with wokeness. Better they don’t touch it and really eff things up.

You’re probably right.
I loved that series of novels.
Wasn’t over thrilled when Thomas died and the chick doctor became the central figure.
I think I stopped reading them after that.
Maybe I should give it a chance.
Have you seen Blackadder’s Christmas Carol?

OMG, I should’ve hung on!
Thomas Covenant is resurrected by Linden Avery. He is once again a leper, and his mind slips in and out of human reality as an after-effect of spending millennia as part of the Arch of Time.
I swear someday I’ll name a dog Vain, Bannor Bloodguard or maybe just Kevin.
