When I was four years old, I had a big plastic bumblebee with a string and you could “fly” him by spinning him around your head. His wings flapped and he buzzed when you were spinning him. I took him over to the lot next door to show the real bees. You can imagine what those bees thought of this big intruder! That’s one of my first memories, too.

Reminds of a common house fly trick. Fill gallon twist tie food storge bags with water and hang them up outside.
The flies will fly past the bag and see a magnified reflection of themselves and it scares them off.
Or
Hang a replica of a hornets nest around wooden decks and screened in porches and the number of carpenter bees are greatly reduced.
