“Because he fears “Globohomo” more?”

More likely he is one.

“I can only think of one reason - which is that he has no intention to do what he’s promised.”

Winner of today’s Internet.

Maybe we can ask Luntz about that one.

I heard today Steve Bannon say that it’s been since 1870 that the guy running for speaker of the house didn’t have the grace to step aside when he didn’t have the votes Kevin just wants to be Speaker no matter what. It makes me kind of ill, this quest for Power. It is not good for us and it’s certainly not good for him. Kevin should walk away and let the people decide instead of trying to force his way into the Speakership. He has no shame. Completely untrustworthy and needs to sit down and stop it now.

No wonder McCarthy is starting to compromise.
If he agrees to go back to House Rules, including Motion To Vacate Chair,
like it was before Pelosi, I’d be willing to give him a chance.
He needs to be held accountable and the Motion To Vacate Chair would do that,
along with other reasonable rules.

It’s too bad the Speaker isn’t elected by only the members of the party in the majority — instead of the whole body.

OK, what’s a motion to vacate?

Nancy took it away so she could have total control

I’m guessing that was a safeguard put in by the Founding Fathers to keep the Speaker from being too far away from the middle.

I am so jaded I think this is just Kabuki Theater. McCarthy knows he will win but this is being led on to try to placate the conservative base. He thinks we are so stupid we will fall in line when he wins on the second round of voting.

These weasels are still thinking they can go back to the old status quo where the Pubbie leaders actually do nothing and let the Dems get their way.

Remember when there was that long investigation where that one pathetic Pubbies (I can’t remember his name but he had that GQ hair that was flipped up in front) would call a press conference every now and then and bloviate on how bad the Dems were and we were getting to the bottom of their criminality. He actually ran the clock our for any actual legal actions to be taken then he finally retired.

Most of the Republicans are more evil than the Dems because they hide their intentions and stab our country in the back.

So, she’ll identify enough Democrats from ‘Purple’ areas that will vote for him in the interest of bipartisanship
++++++++++++++++++++

This seems like what will unfold.

In the 1800s, it took 133 ballots cast over 60 days to elect a Speaker, so there is precedent for an election as opposed to a selection.

HOLD THE LINE!
