After an intensive search, law enforcement has finally taken a suspect in the murder of four University of Idaho students.
The suspect has been identified as Bryan Christopher Kohberger, and he was arrested in Pennsylvania, in the Poconos.
Here’s hoping that police have the right man in custody — and that, if he is indeed guilty of committing these heinous murders, Kohberger will face justice.
For what it’s worth, Kohberger has reportedly exhibited some bizarre, arguably disturbing behavior since being taken into custody:
And it should come as no surprise to you that Kohberger apparently has a pattern of odd, arguably disturbing behavior.
Except Bryan Kohberger is not just any graduate student, but a graduate student in criminal justice:

Talk about things taking a turn. Holy moly.
“Uhhhhhh…” is exactly right. If the Bryan Kohberger who wrote that Reddit post is in fact the same Bryan Kohberger who was just arrested in connection with a quadruple homicide, then … wow. What happened, exactly? Did Kohberger not get a satisfactory number of responses from criminals to his inquiry? Was he just not impressed with the quality of the responses? Did he decide that he could just save himself a lot of time and effort by going out and committing a crime himself? After all, what better way to understand how emotions and psychological traits influence decision-making when committing a crime than to go out and commit a crime? And what better crime to go out and commit than murder?
That’s really how it’s looking, yes.
Granted, the Reddit post isn’t quite as damning as, say, a Facebook post or TikTok video talking about how you’re going to go shoot up a school (you know, the sorts of stuff that law enforcement often gets alerted to and chooses to ignore until someone actually does go out and shoot up a school and then it’s “Gosh, we had no clue that something like this could happen! If only someone had brought this person to our attention earlier!), but still. Looking back at the post in light of Kohberger’s arrest, it’s hard not to feel like maybe there might have been other clues that something about this guy was just really, really off.
“Diabolical” is such a great descriptor. Seriously, what the hell? Did a future quadruple-murderer really go on Reddit less than a year ago to ask for input from criminals on what motivated them to commit their crimes? This is honestly just so insane. On so many levels.
Or it would’ve been … fortunately Kohberger, if he’s the murderer, probably won’t get a chance to do it. And what a tremendous loss for criminal justice scholarship that will be.

In an odd way, I kind of look up to DB Cooper. He didn’t hurt anyone and outsmarted the Feds. (I know it’s a crime)

I wasn’t around yet when they committed the murder, but I was delivering papers when Leopold got out. A lot of my older customers were not at all happy when they saw that headline.
( I say “older” customers, but I was 13, so EVERYone was “older” lol)
Don’t know. But if you mix drugs, freaky discussions and involuntary celibacy in the graduate student’s lounge, who knows what plots and schemes are hatched. Some of these perpetual students are very strange.
As I commented on another thread, while there may have been 25,000 white Elantras in the USA, there probably were no more than 25 in the vicinity of Moscow ID (let’s say eastern WA and most of ID, total population would not be even 1% of USA, which would suggest under 250, then we’re talking about a part of the country where every other person drives a pick-up or SUV (I know, I live just north of the border). So the number of white Elantras in that general area would be just a handful, not difficult to narrow down, unless he was quite new to WSU and still had PA plates and registration. We’ll find out about that sooner or later I suppose.
We should not rush to conclusions of course, police have been known to arrest wrong suspects but we don’t yet have access to the full circumstances of the DNA match which presumably is more than just Joe Blow using the washroom during a house visit.
As somebody else was commenting, this is unlikely to be the first major act of violence for this perp (whether it’s this guy or not). As far as I’m aware we have not heard yet if the suspect has any priors?
When you read back over the monstrous record of Ted Bundy and how many times he could have been identified, I think if this is the right arrest this time, dozens of potential victims of the future were spared.

The clearance rate in Chicago for murder is 50%. Or less as the books appear to be cooked. Other cities are worse.
Plenty of people get away with crimes of all kinds.
Poso just posted the FBI had been following the perp for the last four days.
Was it a “citizen sleuth” that came up with the footage of the white car?
Or the color film Rope from Hitchcock.
Has it been determined this new suspect is Jewish? Or is that just an assumption based on his name?

My guess is the guy is an incel, coupled with psychotic thoughts he developed during his research and it all finally broke loose.
He entered the house on the second floor and killed the guy and the gal out of spite because they were sexually active, then proceeded upstairs to kill the 2 girls for spurning him and men like him.
I bought Leopold’s book.
He stated up front when he wrote it he would not talk about the murder in the book.
When he got out a reporter went to his house. He had a picture of Loeb (of course when he was young, reporter said it was a well know photo) on his mantle or somewhere.
Stated he still loved Loeb.

I’ve seen my share in engineering.
A few years ago a Chinese national was kidnaped and killed in my university town. They caught the perp via a daylight video. The video showed the victim getting into a particular car. The authorities didn't have a license plate number, but knew the model and color of the car. If my memory serves me correctly, the police said they had a couple dozen local cars they had to sort out. With video enhancement, they got a match on the car by a ding on the car ...
I think he was hitting on one of the blonde girls and she “dissed” him.
There are probably a MILLION white Elantra cars on the road.
