PS. Electrical energy has a mind of its own. Ukraine runs on USSR standards. Your plugs and their plugs an everything behind them are not the same. The west does not have the capacity to manufacture replacements for the power system including the trains. Why dont you go slobber on Xi to fix it. We can not replace the transformers. The “west” is perfectly capable of manufacturing anything they need, and indeed the Ukrainians are perfectly capable of adapting what they send.
Its just more trouble, more work. But such is war.
The Ukrainians are adapting western diesel locomotives right now. They received US GE diesels before the war, and are getting more.

Supply the engines to suit the rail guage. GE engines (or any engine makers products) are designed to easily be adjusted in the factory to suit any required guage. This goes wayyy back. In the old days, the 1890s say, you could order a Russian guage engine from Baldwin. The US supplied thousands of railway engines to Russia in WW2, in Russian guage.
GE supplied 30 engines to Ukraine two years before the war.
Presumably in Russian Guage.

I have worked in a closely related area for decades (as in what you do with those transformers). Believe me, the people who actually run this stuff know what they are doing. Their bosses often present an amusing sight, but actual power engineers know their jobs.
