Reminds me of my first car, a Triumph Spitfire. Mostly the latter part, viz. getting a ride back home.
And we all know what happened to British Leyland.
In the 70s, a friend of mine had a Triumph Spitfire. When he could drive it, it was a lot of fun! But....yeah, he wasn’t able to drive it often. British electronics.
I had a 1978 MGB that wouldn't start at 17 degrees and below. Had to haul out my battery charger.
Worst car purchase I have ever made in my life, especially considering the winters here in Michigan.
I had a FIAT X1/9.....................
LOL...I had “British Sports Car Disease” for about a decade with my 1976 MG Midget.
Hahahah...”Lucas, The Father of Darkness”!
I will say that, although I learned nearly everything I needed to know about all aspects of car mechanics from working on that car myself, it never left me stranded or stuck, and I put nearly 100K miles on it, which is a feat of some note.
When I say “never stranded or stuck” I mean...just barely!
You reminded me of the fact that I once had a Triumph Spitfire. I think it was a 1963. What a total POS. It was almost a daily chore just trying to keep the multiple carbs in synch.
My 1st, 1967 Spitfire......
