The Coming Split
American Greatness ^ | December 27, 2022 | Dan Gelernter

Posted on 12/28/2022 3:25:09 PM PST by Robert DeLong

What should we do when a majority of Republicans want Trump, but the Republican Party says we can’t have him?

Last week I wrote about Teddy Roosevelt and Donald Trump. My comparison wasn’t between the two men as presidents—though they had some similar personality traits—but between how the two men were treated by the Republican Party. The Republican Party of 1912 decided it would be better off renominating William Howard Taft, even though its voters would have preferred another Roosevelt term. The resulting split ushered in Woodrow Wilson and the first academic globalists, whose bright ideas laid the groundwork for a second world war on the eve of the conclusion of the first.

Of the three men who were candidates in 1912, Taft probably would have made the best president. Though TR took a muscular attitude towards American interests abroad, he eventually decided he had the power to lay claim to gigantic tracts of American land and to regulate the prices of private railroad tickets. His megalomania did substantial damage to individual liberty long before his cousin FDR had similar ideas.

The days of the nominee being selected in some smoky backroom are over.

That’s a laughable comment.

That kind of passivity will only make things worse……Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Any worse than they are now?

Republicans control, what, 21 states across the board. Not one of them has take the initiative to get rid of the fraud mechanisms out in place because of covid. Instead were told to embrace them and to start cheating as well

Somehow, Raffensberger was re-elected. So, what’s one of the first things being reported that he wants for Georgia? Ranked Choice Voting and a winner doesn’t need to get 50%+1, to win an election. Can someone be anymore of a plant or compromised?

It’s good you can read their party organizers minds.

Party organizations were much different then and weren’t semi-institutionalized like they are now.

Quite frankly, is everyone aware that the Democrats and their voting methods control around 260+ Electoral College votes, before any election even starts?

Are Michigan and Pennsylvania, Battle Ground States? Not anymore as Democrats have complete control of both states. So, however many EC votes they have go to the Democrat.

Simple facts.

Georgia allows the recall of elected officials. Time to organize and recall Raffensberger !

"It’s good you can read their party organizers minds."

It’s good you can see the future. Keep making excuses, and settling for the same 'ol, same 'ol.

You’re the one claiming prescience by Republican party 1850s organizers. I’m not making excuses I just am stating things as they are.

I never brought up prescience. I simply said the Republican Party was organized out of others in 1854, and that they didn’t simply give up after their Presidential loss that year, but tried again. You’re the one that brought up the Civil War that hadn’t occurred yet, and slavery that had already been around for many years. You’re adding more to my comment than there originally was.

Asking if you want Trump or deSantis is rather like asking a guy with no girlfriend if he wants a blonde or a brunette.

“If TR had had Twitter and a YouTube channel, the Bull Moose Party would still be in power.”

If Teddy was still around, the only person he would be able to get an interview with would be Alex Jones, probably.

This is the problem with McCarthy. He is a career uniparty politician, more of the same.

“There was also that Slavery\Civil War thing on the horizon. Not a valid comparison!”

Unless, of course, there is presently a civil war on the horizon.

If DeSantis is the nominee, I will vote for him, but my preference is for Trump. If it’s anyone else, I will probably stay home.
