JMO: There is more at play here.
1. Does he REALLY support McC or is this just a move on the chessboard?
2. Could McC be a white hat sleeper?
3. Perhaps a lesson for all of us (from Q): We should think for ourselves. We should not blindly trust/believe/follow anyone. That includes Trump. This is NOT saying that Trump is wrong here, just that we should think things through. There is more than one move left on the chessboard.
Side note: I suspect the conflicting messages from Q about “trust the plan / trust X” and “think for yourself” are due to the fact that many people are extremely shallow thinkers and their knee-jerk reactions to people would be detrimental to the plan and to themselves.

RE MCCARTHEY
I think you nailed it, gen. A lot of factors here. But it remains, it does appear for whatever reason Trump wants him in place at this point. At least starting out this new congressional session.
Since they aren't consulting me, I need to pray for the Will of God, and pop the popcorn, bring out the snack trays and watch the Show.....
QANTEEN IS OPEN!
Kevin McCarthy is a political animal - he probably has few committed principles. At one time he took the risk of opposing Prez Trump - for what ever reason - and he got burnt for his ploy. So, seeing that DJT has a grip on the core of the Republican Party - NOT the Dick Cheney cabal - McCarthy has done an about face.
Further: Donald Trump has necessarily become more 'political'; D.C. realities attempted to chew him up and spit him out. He has to deal with them or end up a pariah. As Speaker, McC is supported by the Cheney crowd - pour money into Ukraine, spend into deficits and debt, promote military conflicts to facilitate spending for the military/industrial complex - but the House Conservative Caucus thinks otherwise.
The divisiveness of the GOP right now benefits the Democrat Marxists - who have no division (or else! ). That puts the Speakership in jeopardy at a critical juncture. If division continues the GOP cannot govern and that at a time when the country teeters on the brink of a complete overthrow of all of its traditional values.
The political solution is obvious - just like in parliamentary systems... a compromise coalition must be forged or the GOP cannot govern. Similarly, the disruptive hash of Israeli politics these past few years has led to: forge a coalition. Incidentally, the fracturing of Israeli politics is caused by the same forces that are fracturing our politics - just as Barak Obama, ask Yuval Noah Harari!
