No, but growing up in an environment where you're encouraged to look under the hood can help a lot. No offense to the "trained professionals", but I certainly try to do as much myself as possible. 1) Many times it turns out better and 2) I don't get cleaned out by having an endless parade of people doing/fixing things for me that I can do as well or better for much less money.
