The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Have fun with today’s cryptogram and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Very nice! Merry Christmas!
Okay, I’m pleased with myself: I started with the first name of the author, looked at the pattern, and thought, “there’s only one name that fits that pattern.” From there it practically filled in itself!
This one wasn’t easy for me. Nothing made sense until I looked for the one word that had to be there.

Solution to previous puzzle (select the yellow text with your cursor to read):
Some say that ever 'gainst that season comes
Wherein our Saviour's birth is celebrated,
This bird of dawning singeth all night long;
And then, they say, no spirit dare stir abroad,
The nights are wholesome, then no planets strike,
No fairy takes, nor witch hath power to charm,
So hallow'd and so gracious is the time.Hamlet, Act I, Scene I

The ubiquitous and friendly CNACMP was my hook, and that gave me UFKOPHSCP, after which it was more or less just typing.
Oops. I missed that one. I should have had covfefe instead of egg nog with breakfast.
There’s a French variation on that name that ends with a different letter.
I use letter frequency and try to find out which three letter word is THE or AND. The THE was my hook.
Merry Christmas. Good one.
