On Friday evening, suspended Texas Longhorns head coach Chris Beard's fiance released a statement through her attorney disputing aspects of the account she gave police officers that led to Beard's arrest and a third-degree felony charge for assault by strangulation/suffocation - family violence. [Linked article lists what she told and showed to Police - She basically recants everything]

Of course not. That's why you said he tried to strangle you..
If she is recanting then, tie her to a chair and throw her in a river...
If women face punishment for recanting, then they won’t recant.
“Believe Women” - we should not automatically do so. Women do say things to hurt people when angry and upset.

After the charges are all dropped, he needs to dump her. She is hot, but too far up on the crazy side of the Hot/Crazy matrix.
She's a high school volleyball coach, and so probably would not have much of a lifestyle if he left her, but she should have thought of that earlier.
You can’t take back or try to drop charges with family violence the state automatically prosecutes.
Yet another evil white woman.
Better keep her away from the overflowing dishwasher.
Yes, I saw it in college a long, long time ago.
I will speculate that their attorneys have negotiated a cash settlement in exchange for her future silence.
I will also speculate that one or both of them have other intimate relationships, which is usually what leads to physical violence, especially if alcohol is mixed into the argument.
Regardless, the coach - who was the third highest paid college basketball coach in the country - is going to be unemployed for many years.
Victims of domestic abuse often recant ... then are right back in a very dangerous situation. If strangling is involved, the chance the victim will be killed goes up dramatically. This one is likely hearing “I’m so sorry, I’ll never do it again, please don’t ruin my career.” She is making a HUGE mistake, but one that is common.

Why strangulation in domestic violence is a huge red flag
https://naplesshelter.org/strangulation/
“any reported history of strangulation places the person at a higher risk for more serious violence or homicide by the hands of their intimate partner.
One in four women will experience intimate partner violence (IPV) in their lifetime, and of those, up to 68 percent will suffer near-fatal strangulation at the hands of their partner.
Of the victims, 97 percent are strangled by hands; 38 percent reported losing consciousness; 35 percent are strangled during sexual assault/abuse; 9 percent are also pregnant, and 70 percent of strangled women believed they were going to die.”

From another link:
“If this person has been strangled by someone who says they love them, their chances of being killed by that person are immense,” said Gen. Weirich.
A National Institution of Justice study found victims are ten times more likely to eventually be murdered by someone who’s choked them.
After being threatened with a firearm, a history of strangulation in a relationship is the biggest indicator for a future domestic violence homicide, according to the Family Safety Center.

I know 2 women killed by their husbands. One was beaten almost to death, then shot. The other was asked to step outside to “talk” and shot in the head/killed. I worked for the police and talked to women in bad situations, beaten, threatened with death, etc. I had a friend in an abusive relationship & helped her ‘escape’ (she lived with me for a couple of months after she ‘got out’/away). I currently have a relative in a bad situation - he is drinking, controlling, abusive bully, has a gun & various other issues. This stuff matters to me and it’s all over ... most women suffer in silence. I know at least one man that I would consider in a mentally abusive relationship, too.
They don't face punishment for recanting. They face punishment for the original lie.
Her lawyer must have advised her that she doesn’t get her share of his $5 million/year salary if he’s fired.
It will be interesting to see if any other women step up and file a Me Too against the male coach.
Or, if any men step up and accuse the woman of previously making false accusations.
BINGO!
The former is more likely than the latter. Since the current fiance recanted, any previous others will likely stay quiet. If the fiance pursued charges & it looked like the prosecutor was truly going to be serious about holding him accountable, any other victims out there, if any, might feel safer coming forward.
Hey Wescott, if it’s a woman, the word is fiancee.
Abusive gold digger attacks sugar daddy then realizes it was a bad financial move and recants.
It’s early and the coffee has not been brewed. I’m trying to figure out the significance of the overflowing dishwasher?
