Daisy Ridley is firmly cemented in the Star Wars universe thanks to her role as Rey, but the actress struggled to secure roles after appearing in the space opera movies.
The 30-year-old star appeared in the most recent Star Wars trilogy, starting with The Force Awakens in 2015.
After becoming one of the new faces of the multi-billion-dollar Disney-owned blockbuster franchise, one would think Ridley would have endless job offers, but she has revealed that wasn’t the case.
Following the release of the final film in the new trilogy, The Rise the Skywalker in December 2019, Ridley struggled jobs-wise in the following months before the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.
"Weirdly, at the beginning of the year nothing was coming through," she explained to Entertainment Weekly, describing the months after The Rise of the Skywalker’s release. "I was like, 'Aww! No one wants to employ me.'"
She added that 'there were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them'.
"I had that moment of 'Oh my god!' and then just thought 'everything in it’s right time,'" she said.

Star Wars is now a joke. I wouldn’t hire anyone associated with it either.
She is a heterosexual white chick, so that’s against her odds.
Maybe the Hollywood scumbags put their couches away after Weinstein…
Somehow I think she’ll be able to carry on.
She did a character voice in the semi-animated Peter rabbit films with James Corbin. My youngest kid likes those movies, but they’re just awful, compared to kid centered comedies of 80’s-90’s, the animation is modern sure but the writing is just bad.
Most actress today claim they are “not completely straight”, you never hear them saying they are flat out hetero.
Can’t she use the force?
What? You didn’t see the masterpiece that was “Corvette Summer”?
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
LOL!!!!!!!
To be fair, I didn’t read she is straight, just that she has a “partner” that is male...
She was better than Natalie Portman in the Star Wars prequels. She was just beyond bad.
“you never hear them saying they are flat out hetero”
Two kisses of death when attempting to get an acting job in Hollywood
1. Openly stating you are heterosexual
2. Openly stating you are conservative
You might as well go straight to the unemployment line
I’ve seen several actresses, married to a guy with kids, who have never been with a woman proclaim they are “bisexual”.
The original trilogy and revenge of the sith are the only Star Wars movies I enjoyed.
Mark Hamill has done a LOT since Star Wars, but you just didn’t see him because most of it was voice work. He has done some masterful roles in animated movies and shows.
Portman was better looking...
I seriously hated everything after Return of the Jedi, and the little muppets in that bothered me some.
I thought the worst overall was Luke turning into a complete douchebag in the newer films.
There’s nothing liberals can’t ruin...nothing.
Wasn’t Mark the voice of the Joker in the animated Batman series. I haven’t seen it but I’ve head he did a great job.
Daisy Ridley was the least of the sequels problems. Her character wasn’t bad, just underdeveloped.
The sequel’s problems were structural and deep (Seriously, no Thrawn or Mara Jade? A B-17 bomb run, in space? A massive fleet appearing out of nowhere?).
There is no reason she should not be working
Like as Mark Hammill in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?...
Of course the scripts were awful but she did not help.
There’s alwaysFixed.prostitutionyachting.
